i usually don’t write reviews but i created an account for this - this is going to be a lengthy review but if you are going to read one let it be this. i want to start by saying that i’m not trying to be dramatic, well maybe i am but whatever. let’s just get some background info first, i have been vegan for about 7 years now so indian food is a big staple in my diet. i grew up with lots of indian friends and eating authentic indian dishes my whole life. i’ve traveled to many places and ate indian food (america, all over europe etc) never india tho so maybe one day ;) we stayed in sideman for a few days, little vegan options far out here but i saw this place on happy cow and decided to give it a go. they have an entire vegetarian page. our server was not only beautiful on the inside and out but was the sweetest person ever and knew about veganism and helped me out. we ordered a lot of food. i wasn’t expecting much, as i have eaten multiple indian dishes before so i was excited to have some in bali. the first dishes were brought out, and my god you can smell from the kitchen the most incredible scent. the dishes not only smell how i can’t even describe into words, but the presentation is beautiful. i went to take my first few bites, and again i will try to describe this best i can in words but it is near impossible. the first bite was like the animation movie ratatouille when the man tastes the food and his whole childhood flashes before his eyes. this food is the most incredible, delicious, life changing experience i have ever had. when i tell you my soul left my body, my whole life flashed before my eyes, i will not know if i will recover from this. i’m not religious but this food felt like god himself reached down and put his hand on my heart. it feels like a warm hug from your mom. it was the most euphoric experience, every bite, every dish that came out after the other. i have never felt this way before. i could write a 5 paragraph essay, times new roman, 12 point font, SINGLE SPACED not even double spaced SINGLE SPACED on how this food made me feel. i am a changed woman after this. long story short- may the owner of this restaurant be blessed and all the staff and every person who eats here live a long, happy, healthy and peaceful life. the best indian food i have EVER had, i would fly back from america (26 hour flight) just to eat here and fly back home. this restaurant is so underrated, no one was there when we went, not many will ever experience this but if you do, you my friend are lucky. lots of love, my heart is filled with so much...
Read moreExcellent value for money. Generously large servings... Qnara have a massive menu with many great and desirable options to choose from...you will not get bored reading thru this menu though, as they all looked & sound so appetising...all 10-12 pages of them...which was great to have.
All the meals that we ordered were deliciously flavoured. The chicken samoosas were to die for 😍...we ordered both the chicken breyani and the mutton breyani with yellow pea dhall, so fresh, these are unlike anything I've eaten in Bali ever...the meats were so succulent, never thought we would find such fresh mutton, lamb in Bali.
Reminded me of late my mum...the way she made her samoosas (but in flat triangular wrapped shapes), also the delicious indian meals you will find in Durban, South Africa (my place of burth) 🇿🇦...now an Aussie (Perth)...
Congrats 👏 to the owner, staff and especially the chef 👨🍳 Kudos 👏
P.S - Only downfall is the location, very secluded and felt unsafe...would do well in a much better location , good luck and God...
Read moreEveryone has mentioned this so I’m going to go ahead & mention it anyway. Do not be turned off by the appearance. This isn’t like a proper restaurant that you would expect but rather like a Dhaba style place.
Food here is amazing…most authentic Indian we have had in Bali till now. And the surprising thing is that both owner & chef 👨🏽🍳 are not Indians but Balinese!
The food tastes like proper Indian like we would have it back in India. We don’t even get this taste in Sydney. I would recommend this place to anyone who visits this. Please do dine in here atleast once.
We went for dinner the day we arrived & then skipped complimentary breakfast in resort & went to Qnara for breakfast.
Daal tadka, eggs bhurji, romaali roti, paneer chilli dry, masala dosa, masala tea, you order anything & you won’t be disappointed!
Located at a mere 200m walking distance from Candi Beach...
