This place tries to come out as upscale resort but the reality is that the service is below cheapest guesthouses. Dishonest place who steals your money. But first you have to face slowest check-in process that takes forever because the front desk slowly filing and printing some forms that only they care about. But there always a big smile to cheer you up. While it was two of us, we only get one key and when requested the second one, they only apologized (with a big smile though) without trying to fix such a simple issue. I have to speak with a few different people and force them to fix it before they actually did something - and that was replacing the whole lock with 2 brand new keys. They also don't tell about pretty run down rooms that do not match the price you pay and that the place located next to little village with pigs and related smell. Finally, the biggest issue was extra breakfast and lunch, that I naively paid upfront but food quality turned out to be less than expected, moreover, no drinks were included in a pretty pricey option. How much a tea bag costs or a spoon of coffee? But surely this was too out of budget for this "upscale" venue. I tried a few attempts and the staff declined to fix anything, they also declined to make a refund (big smile was there all the time, you bet). After that it was clear why they demanded money for food upfront, since they can't provide quality and just hold you hostage. There are tons of much better places on Bali for much less price that really value their guest, but Ramayana Candidasa is not...
Read moreWe spent a beautiful week at Ramayana Candidasa Beach Resort and Spa, and it was truly an unforgettable experience!
Although we have visited Candidasa many times before, this was our first time staying at this hotel — and choosing Ramayana Candidasa Beach Resort was the best decision we could have made.
The service was absolutely amazing, with beautiful and kind staff who made us feel so welcome and well looked after every day. The cleanliness of the entire resort was impeccable, room service was prompt and excellent, and the internet speed was surprisingly fast, which made everything even more comfortable.
A special mention must go to Garpu Restaurant — without a doubt, one of the best restaurants in Bali we’ve experienced so far. The service was outstanding, and every dish was just wonderful. A very big thanks and heartfelt compliments to Kadek and her amazing team, who took such good care of us throughout our stay.
We also treated ourselves at the Rama Spa, which was truly the icing sugar on the cake. We tried many different massages during the week, and each one was equally professional, relaxing, and simply delightful.
This resort is highly recommended to anyone looking for a peaceful and high-quality stay with genuine Balinese hospitality.
We are definitely coming back for a couple more weeks to enjoy this amazing place again!
Thank you to the entire Ramayana Candidasa Beach Resort team for making our...

Located on the south east of Bali, is the wonderful Ramayana Candi Dasa.
With 77 rooms, it’s between a boutique and medium sized hotel, which gives it a nice ambience of having full facilities, but without the crowds. Helping us in the front office was Oki. We needed an assist with some planning, and Oki patiently helped us through that, doing a number of calls, arranging transport, and providing us a written itinerary. Oki, and all the staff at reception, we found really helpful and pleasant.
Managing the restaurant team is Kadek, a capable and gracious host, who ensured all guests were looked after well. The food and drinks are cheap compared to other Asian countries we’ve visited, and a good range of food. Select cocktails are on happy hour from 9a – 9p, and are made to a decent standard – suggest to try the mango daiquiris 😊 Beautiful views into the harbour, combined with top food and drinks, meant we didn’t need to eat anywhere else for our 8 day stay.
There’s an on premise spa that has very reasonable prices, great couple options, and a relaxing vibe. Again, no need to go elsewhere, this place has it all!
Many local attractions are close by, including a historic village (Tenganan: it’s been there since 1100 AD), Ujung Water Palace, Candidasa Temple, Luwak coffee farm, and our favourite: the Taman Safari.
Highly recommend...
