I recently dined at Five Brothers in Pecatu, Bali, and unfortunately, my experience was far from impressive. The restaurant offers an Italian menu, but one dish in particular stood out for all the wrong reasons – their spaghetti carbonara.
To start, the dish was a clear departure from the traditional carbonara I had hoped for. Instead of pancetta, it was made with bacon, which completely altered the flavor profile. The eggs, which should have been creamy and velvety, were underwhelming and lacked the rich, smooth texture you expect from a proper carbonara. The dish was far too dry and lacked the luscious quality that makes this classic Italian pasta so enjoyable.
Another disappointment was the truffle that was advertised as part of the dish. Despite the claim, there was hardly any trace of truffle flavor or aroma, which left the dish feeling flat and uninspired.
Unfortunately, this meal left me with little desire to return. The execution of this dish was far from what I had hoped for, and the lack of attention to detail makes me question the authenticity of other menu items. For an area like Pecatu, with such a rich variety of dining options, I’ll be looking elsewhere for a more satisfying meal.
In short, Five Brothers missed the mark with their carbonara, and I won’t be...
Read moreFive Brothers restaurant was a disappointing experience on multiple fronts. Firstly, the prices were exorbitant, making it an expensive outing. Unfortunately, the high prices didn't translate into quality food. The dishes were remarkably bland, lacking the flavorful punch one would expect from a restaurant charging such high rates.
Another significant issue was the presence of lizards roaming around in the restaurant. This is not only unsanitary but also highly off-putting for diners.
The culinary disappointments continued with the chicken dish, which was inexplicably cooked with ketchup, resulting in a taste that left much to be desired. The duck dish followed suit, tasting poorly prepared and inadequately seasoned.
Portion sizes were also a letdown, considering the substantial amount spent—more than 400,000. Diners left feeling unsatisfied and certainly not value for money.
In summary, Five Brothers falls short in terms of pricing, food quality, hygiene, and portion sizes. It's a regrettable experience that leaves diners with a sense of dissatisfaction and a desire to find better dining...

What made it even better was the lovely background music, which added to the calm and cozy atmosphere without being overpowering.
