The place is very comfortable and well ventilated, there's an indoor and outdoor option of seating. Car park is quite nice too.
Price is rather high, but very reasonable, since the portion is big and you got good value here (very typical in Szechuan place), highly suggested to eat out with more people to get more menu options. Foods range minimally at 50k ish if eating alone, but portion is generous.
The food here is REALLY GOOD, taste authentic, here's the detail of my order:
suan cai yu: its actually quite good, the good standard taste, very reliable. In the pricier end of 300k if you picked grouper fish, you get ALOT of meat and veg (you can ask to reduce oil) can satisfy 4 people. pork knuckle (kaki babi pedas) : ok i can't stress enough HOW GOOD THIS IS, the perfect amount of crispy and tender meat, it really melts, and a strong flavour profile. Its so good. mei cai kou rou (babi hong): this is also a solid choice, if you're a fan of babi hong or soy sauce braised pork, but personally its quite standard in a good way beef noodle: this is REALLY GOOD as well, it has a really deep meaty flavor and some szecuan notes that doesn't overpower the beef flavour. The noodles are very bouncy and the meat topping is really tender and the marbling is so good too, another good choice if you're eating alone.
For the drinks, obviously picked the jasmine tea, since you can refill with hot water around 3x and still taste good!
Really recommend, don't let this small...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUnfortunately we went to a different Chinese restaurant on Jaylan Bypass a week earlier and the Chinese food was awful, it put me off eating out in Bali. However eating at HoCiak last night has totally renewed our faith in eating out in Bali and actually having a decent Chinese restaurant. Just goes to show that you should not go by the total number of Google reviews, as the other Chinese restaurant we ate at had over 3000 reviews but the food was terrible, whereas the food last night at HoCiak was so so good that we keep ordering more and more food. HoCiak was also within waking distance from our hotel, whereas the other Chinese restaurant down Jaylan Bypass we needed to get a taxi to, but they didnāt even have wifi so we couldnāt order a grab back to the hotel afterwards. Also with the horrendous Bali traffic my advice is to support your local restaurants that are in walking distance of your hotels, Iām so glad we ate here last night, the Chinese food was equally as good as the finest Chinese restaurants...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe food was amazing here, definitely authentic Sichuan cuisine (the people here seems to be from mainland). I ordered xiao su rou (crispy pork) and suan cai yu (spicy sour veggie with fish and shrimp). The pork was nicely fried, dusted with chili flake for extra flavor but not too strong, good for snacking or with rice. The suan cai yu is just perfect, lots of finely pickled napa cabbage that's not too salty, dori meat was well-cooked that it's not falling apart, and the shrimp was not getting overpowered, loads of garlic and mala spices (be careful not to bite on them). One bowl is for 4 people (hope they'll consider a smaller portion for 2 because my stomach is about to burst). We actually ordered Chinese tea but got curious of the suan mei tang (sour plum syrup), it's a good sweet drink but I like my plum on sour side. The place isn't that big, but the location is not in popular area so it's decent. Indoor area with air conditioner and outdoor for smoker. Price point is surprisingly fair for the...
