Went to Tusk on a birthday with 4 more people. The space is very nice and the ambience is there. We ordered a beef tartare (good but not insane), bone marrow (was ok, but only half of a bone…) and a sirloin 300g (really really good meat, perfectly cooked). So generally the flavors are good, food is cooked well and the meet is insane taste. What for me failed: we ordered a heirloom tomato salad for 75k (plus tax and service) and came a small bowl with a few cherry tomatoes. This is unacceptable (this one is a general fail in Bali) we were still eating the dishes and the waiters come to take them away and pressure us by taking everything on the table. I don’t see the need to do this, specially if we are still eating the damn food and talking they didn’t have regular water (sold out). This should never happen in a restaurant
I didn’t try the desserts but my friends really liked them!
TLDR: really good meat cooked to perfection, some dishes with really small portions and disproportionate price
Response to Tusk reply: appreciate your openness to feedback! And it is all things fairly easy to improve ☺️ I’m sure I’ll be back in a few months and hopefully change my review to 5*! Good luck and do not change...
Read moreGreat food, but operations and service expertise may have fell short slightly.
I came for the Bone Marrow and Steak Tartare but was disappointed that they did not have these dishes during lunchtime, even though it's on their website menu.
Next, my server asked me if I would like sparkling or still water for my welcome drink - which I assumed is complimentary given that welcome drinks or dishes are complimentary at all other restaurants. To my surprise, the bill included the "welcome drink" and when I informed her, she said it was to be charged and I had to pay for it. It's not a big amount, but it's quite misleading to call something a welcome drink if it is to be paid for.
I also ate alone and I asked if the starter was too big for 1 person, to which the waitress advised that it was small so I ordered it with my steak. However, to my surprise, it was big and quite loaded and I had to leave some behind. While more food is definitely welcomed and is generous, but to avoid wastage, it would be best to recommend an appropriate portioning.
However, the food was delicious and the ribeye was super tender and juicy, perfectly cooked. Only a few hiccups that was a little...
Read moreWe were recommended Tusk so visited last night with high expectations but unfortunately we were disappointed.
We were told the restaurant had only been open a month so we went with an open mind, but honestly - the food was average & service quite painful.
The menu reads great & food is well presented but the taste is lacking & not worth the price.
The steaks were pretty fatty & came without a choice of sauce yet the burger came with 3 dipping sauces when it already had its own sauce? Some decisions are backwards.
Service wise the restaurant is overstaffed & under trained. A pet hate for me is also clearing plates while others are still eating. It’s rude & makes people feel rushed.
Another observation which was frustrating to watch but also completely unsafe - every time someone wanted to enter/exit the restaurant they would unlock/lock the door. We were told if it wasn’t locked the door would bang. It’s a brand new restaurant & a simple fix? Customers are rattling the door & walking away because they can’t get in? Staff are holding trays of drinks/food & struggling to open the door one handed? The doors an emergency exit & locked shut? Just...
