Afterglow Bar & Kitchen — Restaurant in Kuta

We pre-booked the Afterglow Afternoon Tea for a special occasion.

When we arrived and advised that we had a booking for an afternoon tea, the staff looked blankly at each other and spoke amongst themselves. I showed them the confirmed booking advice received on my phone. They walked away with no explanation and left us standing at the entrance for a long time wondering what was happening and thinking what we should do?

I approached the bar where they were consulting with one another. It was clear to me our booking had been missed. So I suggested we just order food off the menu instead. They replied they could make the afternoon tea up but it would take half an hour to make. We agreed. We suggested instead of the afternoon tea for 4 people, make an afternoon tea for 2 people and we would order food off the menu too.

Despite the restaurant being empty, our drinks took a long time to be delivered and our food even longer.

Before ordering I confirmed with the staff that our Accor Plus discounts would apply. 10% off the high tea + 50% off food for each couple as we had an Accor Plus membership card each.

When I went to pay the waitress who I had confirmed with the changed her mind and said 50% off for 2 people and 25% off for the third person. I referred to the information she had provided before we had ordered, which is the same as the rules on the Accor Plus website. I also expressed my disappointment that our afternoon had been spoiled by the missed booking, the delay in the afternoon tea being delivered and now the uncomfortable discussion about the bill.

This venue has amazing views and so much potential. Unfortunately it is the staff that let this venue down during our visit. We understand mistakes happen and that bookings can get missed, that was not our issue, our issue was the very poor service and not automatically honoring the Accor Plus discounts that were confirmed before ordering.

We would recommend if you pre-book the afternoon tea, (7 days notice is required as advertised on the Accor Plus website), then contact the venue on the day to confirm/remind them about the booking.

Our favourite cocktails were Mimosa Jolley, Sparkle and Creamy Maracuja. In particular, the Creamy Maracuja had a yoghurt-like cream at the top which made it very tasty but under the hot sun, it was wise to finish the drink a little faster. While sipping on these delicious cocktails, we took time to dip in the rooftop infinity pool at Afterglow Bar & Kitchen. From the edge of the infinity pool of Tribe Hotel, we were able to see surfers enjoying themselves as the waves come in as well. In terms of views, Afterglow Bar probably has one of the best views of Kuta/Legian beach because it is unblocked to the north and to the south. Great for just chilling out, sipping on cocktails and enjoying the beach club vibes throughout the day…

While flipping through the promotions available at Afterglow Bar & Kitchen, Tom noticed that there was a promotion at 4pm for the Burger Bundle. The Burger Bundle at Afterglow Bar includes a burger (beef or chicken), fries and a bottle of beer for 99k++ (~$10 SGD). The fries was also truffle fries which made the deal extra worthwhile. This time, we chose the chicken burger which came in 2 small pieces of fried patties. Singaraja beer also complemented the burger and fries well. The Burger Bundle brought us to sunset when another deal took place this evening…

All in all, we had a wonderful time at Afterglow Bar Bali. Not only do they have excellent deals on cocktails throughout the day, views from their infinity rooftop swimming pool is undoubtedly one of the best. With the beautiful sunsets that you’ll be able to see from Afterglow Bar & Kitchen everyday, we think that it could undoubtedly be one of the best rooftop bar in Bali! I am a platinum member of accor. I had an incredible experience at Tribe Bali Kuta Beach, particularly at their rooftop restaurant, Afterglow Bar & Kitchen. The atmosphere was nothing short of magical, with breathtaking views of Kuta Beach and a vibrant yet relaxing vibe.
