Kuta Beach is undoubtedly one of Bali’s most famous and popular destinations. The expansive stretch of golden sand, combined with the sound of crashing waves, creates a classic tropical beach experience. It’s a great place for those who love to surf, as the waves here are perfect for beginners and seasoned surfers alike. The beach’s lively atmosphere is enhanced by the presence of local vendors selling everything from refreshing coconut water to souvenirs.
During my visit, I found Kuta Beach to be a good spot to catch the sunset, which is absolutely stunning. As the sun dips below the horizon, the sky fills with shades of orange, pink, and purple, making it the ideal time for a relaxing walk along the shoreline. However, I did notice that it can get a bit crowded, especially during peak hours, so if you’re looking for a more tranquil experience, it might be better to visit early in the morning.
While Kuta Beach has a lot to offer, I would also mention that the area surrounding the beach is bustling with activity. There are plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops nearby, which is convenient if you want to grab a bite or do some shopping after spending time on the beach. The only downside is that the beach isn’t always the cleanest due to the large number of visitors, but the natural beauty of the place makes up for it.
Overall, Kuta Beach is a great spot if you’re looking for a vibrant and energetic beach experience. Whether you’re here to surf, people-watch, or simply relax, there’s something for everyone. Just be prepared for the crowds and make sure to catch the stunning sunset—it’s...
Read moreTwo dead turtles. That’s the result of one random stroll of 30min on Kuta Beach today. As I was walking past, the first dead turtle was just being hushed into a plastic bag so not too many people would see it. Only around 3min later there was just another one laying there washed up on the shore. Apparently it had just recently stranded as no measures had been taken yet to removed it. According to previous reviews these incidents seem to occur rather frequently. The pollution and the amount of litter and plastic on this beach is truly saddening. Shop owners tried to tell me the turtles - being the ocean animals they are - must have died from big waves or maybe got hit by debris in the water. Despite living by and of the nearby ocean, the shops don’t seem to care about more than what’s happening in front of their counter. The tourist folks on the other hand rather don‘t care either since they are on their well deserved annual leave and more happy to get shit faced by overprized booze. It’s heartbreaking to see wildlife deliberately damaged and animals threatened or killed. Of course, sadly enough it‘s not that there are not similar things happening elsewhere in the world. But is this seriously the culmination of what human beings come to praise as a renowned, world class beach and tourist destination?
If you read this comment, please save yourself some decency and don’t support this by going there.
P.s.: Ironically, the Turtle Conservation Centre was situated just some 100m farther. It‘s...
Read moreKuta Beach is a solid choice if you’re looking to try surfing for the first time. The waves are decent, not too strong, and perfect for beginners. Swimming is technically possible here, but you won’t really enjoy it — the place is packed with surfers, especially in the afternoon.
If you’ve never surfed before, I highly recommend taking a surfing lesson — it’s a lot of fun! But be smart: 💸 The usual price for a 2-hour lesson directly with an instructor is 150,000 IDR. 🏫 If you go through a surf school, expect to pay at least 250,000 IDR. 💡 Pro tip: Take one lesson through the school, then deal directly with the same instructor outside the school. That way, you pay less (even 100,000 IDR) and the instructor earns more — since schools usually only pay them 100k anyway. Just don’t mention this to the school. 😏
The beach itself is a bit dirty, and there are crowds everywhere, especially at sunset. But oh, those sunsets… 🌅 Absolutely stunning. I highly recommend grabbing a seat at one of the beach bars or little tables set up along the upper side of the beach. ❗️Important tip: Don’t pay for a table — the legit ones are free as long as you order drinks. If someone asks you to pay for the table itself, just walk away.
💰 Prices are fairly reasonable: • Local beer (330ml can): ~30,000 IDR • Fresh coconut: ~40,000 IDR
So overall, Kuta is worth visiting, especially for surfing and sunsets, but don’t expect a peaceful beach day or...
