Worst dining experience I had in Bali.
It's bizarre because for one of the flashest-looking places in the Dewi Sri Food Centre it is easily the crappest.
Food was okay (what they actually had available) but it came out cold.
The kicker was the service. Even my kind and ever-loving wife commented it seemed like we got the special ed team. I actually thought we had to order at the bar because no one would even look at us but my wife swore she had seen people get their order taken at the table.
Eventually someone came over but placing the order was an ordeal in itself. I can work around a language barrier most times but this woman did not want to meet us in the middle and was just plain unfriendly and unhelpful. They seemed okay with Chinese tourists but Australians not so much.
I wanted to order another ice tea but making eye contact with a server was next to impossible. I tried eye contact and a smile and a little wave, nothing. In the end I sat there and waved both arms over my head like one of those giant inflatable dummies just to see how long it would take to be noticed. After about a solid ninety seconds one of the chefs came out of the kitchen and directed a server to our table.
Halfway through our meal a server came over with a takeaway soup which we didn't order. It didn't matter how many times or how many ways we said 'no, this is not ours' he just smiled and kept repeating 'yes, takeaway'. We just gave up. Five minutes later another server walks up, opens the soup, looks at us strangely and takes it away.
The icing on the cake was asking the manager to please call us a taxi. He just pointed at the road, like figure it out for yourself. So I put my tip back in my wallet and walked away.
All in all I would say they need to train their staff and actually have what is listed on the menu. I wish them the best but I won't be back, not when there are so many better options right next door to them.
Complete bunch of idiots. Minus...
Read moreI had dinner at Pandaloka in Dewi Sri Food Court and it was a really enjoyable experience. The place has a lively atmosphere with lots of diners, yet it still feels comfortable thanks to the cozy seating and greenery decor.
The food was delicious and came out quickly. The spicy noodle soup was flavorful with a nice kick of heat, the fried rice was fragrant and well-seasoned, and the stir-fried green beans were fresh and crunchy. Everything tasted homemade and comforting. I also noticed they have a variety of fresh grilled seafood options like clams, squid, and prawns, which looked very tempting for next time.
Service was friendly and efficient, even though the place was quite busy. Prices are reasonable for the generous portions, making it a great spot for both locals and tourists who want tasty food without breaking the bank.
Overall, Pandaloka is a great choice if you’re around Dewi Sri and craving hearty Asian food with a good variety of options. I’d definitely...
Read moreAbsolutely love Pandaloka! Everything about it speaks volumes about traditional Chinese cuisine, service and atmosphere.
Don’t expect Chinese lanterns and Chinese dragon decor, it’s not that, but instead expect some of the best dishes you can get your hands on in Bali.
Location is in Dewi Sri, where there are at least 20 restaurants competing with Pandaloka; which non except 2 others come close to the level of excellence once could find here.
The staff have a slight difficulty to understand English, so don’t get discouraged to eat here, since there is help in English from management and 2-3 waiters.
I bring all my new friends to this restaurant as I know it will hit the spot! I’ve been here more than 10 times in the past 2 months and will be coming here for the definite next...
