Warung Kampung is a short 15-minute walk from Beachwalk Mall. Located in the alley to the left of Taco Guacamole, it's easy to miss. The decor is basic, with no frills seating on wooden tables with long benches or tables and chairs. 8 guests were eating when I arrived. The server promptly gave me the menu. I ordered the tempeh, tofu, and eggplant dish with no rice, a fruit plate, and a mix of pineapple and watermelon juice. They were out of the juice I wanted. As I waited, I spotted one cat walking around. No big deal. My fruit dish and juice arrived within minutes. The table wasn't wiped down. There was rice and sauce from a previous meal on it. I used a baby wipe and hand sanitizer to clean the table. Luckily, I did. I scrolled through reviews as I waited and learned that cats often walk on the tables and eat scraps. I ate the crudely cut fruit but didn't enjoy it because of the negative reviews. Then, I could hear someone coughing in the kitchen area. It sounded like a man. I prayed that he wasn't near my food. My dish came out. It looked sad. The eggplant was plain and full of oil. The tofu and tempeh were bland. There were short string-like/hair-like things on the tofu. The juice blend tasted fresh but watery. A second cat appeared. I decided to pay and go. I am allergic to cats. Just as I stood up, the gray cat jumped on the bench opposite from me. Maybe it wanted my leftovers? Disgusting. This is a food code violation in other countries. At the cashier, my meal was 40k but increased to 50k because I blended two juice types. The waitress didn't tell me it cost more when I order. Both the juices cost 10k each, so I didn't see why blending them cost 20k. But two ladies and a man explained to me all at once that I owed an extra 10k. I paid and left. My lips had already begun to itch from being near the cats. I would never go back. You pay for what you get here. In comparison, the night before, I paid 35K for a complete Balinese fried chicken, rice and salad meal at a highly-rated hotel not more than 10 minutes away. It is the best deal and meal that I had in Bali. I DO NOT recommend...

The Good- prices low, portions generous, food prepared is fresh
The bad: only 2 corner tables with proper chairs. But no fan so in summer unbearable. Rest are bench seating as can be seen in pic. where you can get some fan air.
Service bad- only 1 server. Took 40 minutes for my nasi (rice) Gorang (fried) seafood for 37000 IDR or USD 2.50
Only cash
Fruit juice- Ice quality unknown better eat fruits. Server tastes the juice and same spoon is used to dip in the juice jar for next tasting.if u ok with it. I wish I had not seen it.
Last but not the least MSG- Monosodium glutamate. Unless you specifically instruct and they pretend they don't know...it is common practice in Asia using this salt for enhancing the flavor. Especially dishes with sauces. No matter how enticing pictures of the food look, if there is MSG, I am not going again because my body can't take it. May be your's can.
If cheap food with generous proportions is your only criteria do visit if you are near Legion beach area.
Also Gsearch n try Warung Indonesia for even cheaper Halal food with MSG. They even accept credit cards and fruit juices are...

21 & 22 August 2019 Mie Goreng Special IDR$20000, Cah Kangkung Polos IDR$12000, Ikan Goreng(deep fried fish) Sambal Matah IDR$50000, Cumi(squid) Goreng Sambal IDR$25000
Just off Jalan Melasti (slightly past Uncle Norms) inside this slip road you can enjoy a select menu of only local food at budget friendly prices. Our first Mie Goreng was way salty, but the rest were pretty good. The fish has no price on the menu as it depends on what's available(size) during the day. That's very kampung and reminded me so much of fishing with my family during younger days I ordered it twice and finished them deep-fried suckers right to the bone.
Overall there's nothing fancy, but I like it this way. It is also surprisingly popular. My guess is that the place stands out for it's simplicity among the cluster of pricier and fancier looking touristy bars and restaurants along Jalan Melasti, and some people prefer this. For me, affordable authenticity is always a welcome sight.
Busy during dinner, not many tables, and expect food to arrive kampung slow even when it's not busy. 1500 - 1700hrs are ideal times. As Bali prices get increasingly inflated each year, hopefully places like these can remain budget friendly.
See you again. GOOD EATING.
Tip: bring along your bug spray especially...
