Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. But we certainly rolled the dice at this establishment. When you travel all day and late check in, it’s never a good idea to choose food out of desperation to increase your sugar levels, it’s fair enough to say we were hangry and exhausted when we made this stupid decision to dine at Jibaku. We listened to our friendly villa host for a nearby place we could get a quick fill from and return to our villa for some well deserved R&R. Now I always hate when I have to mention negative experiences but this one can not go swept under the 1 star mat. The setting was stunning and its rating was 4.5 which seemed safe enough, we were lured into dine at this empty yet balmy looking place . In hindsight island standards always differ from mainland ones, but rather than remembering a golden rule of island travel we let our hungry bellies decide our fate. Now, when the lovely waiter B lines you for feedback on the food on the way out the door, alarm bells should ring. But even though my tuna seafood curry dish was dry and chewy which I had explained to the keen waiter, I thought nothing more, other than I wouldn’t return. He noticed my daughter’s fish and chips barely touched and asked why, I added to my very personal review it was dry too. He apologised and we left. However, what the next 24hrs would mean for my poor husband after eating the chicken club sandwich was nothing short of horrendous. I think you’ll be able to join the dots but if this isn’t the worst case of Bali Belly I’ve ever seen I m not sure what is. This chicken had him wiped out and unable to leave the hotel room for 2 days of our 5 day Lembongan island stay. Or should I rephrase that to encounter. There’s nothing worse than an experience like this to dampen the holiday cheer. I’m sorry Jibaku but I hope no one goes...
Read moreHoly hell what a night! We entered Jibaku at around 8 PM and it was almost completely empty. The super friendly staff told us to pick a spot - any spot - on their secluded beach, and brought a table there. My wife and I sat pretty much alone on the beautiful sandy beach and enjoyed a candlelit dinner. She ordered the grilled king prawns with a side of fries (85k for a full plate!) and spent the rest of the night in seafood heaven. I got the mixed seafood platter with calamari, tuna and king prawns (100k!) and fell into a similar state. I knew when ordering that I would probably get some pieces that were overcooked due to the difficulty of cooking three different types of seafood at once and I wasn't wrong: both the tuna and the calamari were slightly over. But the flavour - oh wow! Not a single bite of my plate was plain or boring, it was spicy, savoury and exciting up until the last morcels of seafood were gone. Not only the sauce they cooked the seafood in was great, but also the sambal matal they served on the side. What I loved especially was that I didn't have to tell them to serve me the sambal spicy - the way it is supposed to be - they never even considered making it any other way than how they would eat it themselves. So even though some of my seafood was overcooked I had an amazing night at Jibaku for mere pennies and I would return in a heartbeat. I should note that if you want something fancy and romantic, this might not be the place for you (even on the beach we could hear the TV blaring in the restaurant). But if you want to get blown away by authentic Indonesian flavours do yourself a favour and go to Jibaku. A special thanks to the madame of the house who made our night all the more special with her warm and accommodating service. We really felt like we were guests...

I recently visited this incredible beach bar and restaurant, and I can honestly say it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was perfect—casual yet stylish, with a stunning view of the ocean that set the tone for a relaxed and memorable evening.
The menu was full of fresh, delicious options that perfectly captured the flavors of the coast. I had the grilled seafood platter, which was packed with variety and cooked to perfection. The fish was incredibly fresh, and the sides—like the tropical slaw and crispy fries—complemented the main dish...
