DON'T BELIEVE THE RAVE REVIEWS!
The wait time is extremely long whether they're busy or not, the food is basic, and there was also a cockroach crawling out of the sink! Plus, the owner is unbearably rude! He will say one thing and do something else, then make excuses for his incompetence!
On our first visit, it took them almost an hour to make our food, but the restaurant was very busy that night, so we understood why we had to wait. We then came back the day after, but there were only 2 other tables aside from ours, both of which had already been served, yet we still had to wait an hour for our food to arrive again! We didn't even order a lot, just 3 tempeh satay meals, 2 burritos, 2 glasses of pineapple juice, and 1 can of Coke Zero!
For the drinks alone, it took them 15 to 20 minutes to serve us, and before that, the owner even came to our table to say, "You ordered 2 pineapple juices, right? You will only get 1". When asked why, he said because there weren't enough pineapples for 2 juices, then asked us if we wanted anything else. We didn't, and he looked disappointed that we weren't replacing our order with another thing. A few minutes later, he comes back to give us 2 glasses of pineapple juice, and says that they do have enough pineapples after all. We take a sip of this juice and it tasted so watered down, it was the worst "pineapple juice" ever! It was like they just split the one portion available into 2 glasses to make a profit! We called the owner over to tell him that our juice tasted horrible and he just says he will give us more because now they do have more pineapples, but we didn't want to have any of their juice at this point.
After around 45 more minutes, our food is finally served and one of our burritos was less than half the size of the other! We called the owner over to show him, but he didn't even want to look at the burritos. He didn't apologize either for serving the order incorrectly, blamed his wife for it and said she must have been confused while making the food.
We also pointed out that we had already waited so long for our orders to which the owner condescendingly argued that they are not a fast food restaurant, that they make everything fresh, and that there were other guests that came before us that they had to serve first. A guy from another table chimed in upon hearing this and said he also waited for an hour for his food. He then proceeded to the other guy's table and started yelling at him instead!
He kept repeating the same things he said to us to the other guy very loudly and angrily that we couldn't continue eating without telling him to shut up. It was definitely the worst customer service at a restaurant that I have ever experienced in my life! If we didn't care about wasting food, we would have just left at that moment! But as we had already waited SO LONG and were very hungry, we just ate as quick as we could, but we are definitely NEVER COMING BACK!!!

Can I give 0 stars? This was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant in any country I have been to around the world. If you want to wait an hour for some basic food when it is not even busy, and be yelled at, deliberately told lies, and be rudely spoken to by the owner, this is the place for you. Absolutely disgusting service from the owner, who will argue with you and make pathetic excuses for their incompetence.
It started with our order of 2 pineapple juices. After our order was confirmed, he came back and said "you ordered 2 pineapple juices, right? You will get only one." After I asked why, he explained there is not enough pineapple. He comes back a few minutes later with 2 glasses of 'juice' and blames his wife, saying there was enough pineapple. It tasted like water, and had more froth than juice.
When we told him about the juice and said we think he just made the one juice into 2 with extra water, he didn’t deny it, but asked if we would like new ones because apparently they didn’t have the pineapple before, but now he had just got some more pineapple.
We chose to order tempeh satay and burritos with tempeh. We are both vegan, so we asked if they could just add a bit more tempeh instead of the cheese, to which he agreed. I’m also not a fan of guacamole, so I asked if they would just add a bit more beans instead, to which he said that there is actually no beans available. So he was not going to tell us. I then asked if they would add more tempeh to replace the beans. He said ok, but I had a feeling he wasn’t actually going to do it.
Later, while waiting for our order, I said to him I just wanted to confirm, there is no beans, and we are not having cheese, and I am also not having guacamole, so we should be given extra tempeh to replace those ingredients. He said yes.
After waiting about an hour for our food, he brings the burritos, the one with guacamole had more than double the tempeh than my one, and mine was filled with rice and salsa. My burrito was much smaller than the other one. I was also still given guacamole on the side when I asked for no guacamole multiple times.
When we showed him the difference in our burritos he was arguing loudly and blaming his wife instead of admitting he was wrong. I said that we had to wait an hour for this and it wasn’t even what I asked for, another customer nearby said that he also waited an hour, and then the owner started yelling at him continuously, saying if you want fast food go to a fast food restaurant. It was so disturbing that we had to tell him to shut up or we will leave!
Luckily for him, no one else was around to see his horrible treatment of the few customers they had at that quiet time, and he stayed quiet when new customers arrived while we quickly finished our food so we could get the hell out of that horrible...
Read moreWe attended during a quiet time of day so can't really comment on many of the other criticisms that mention the wait time. Out of curiosity, we timed the service and our food arrived a respectful 15 minutes after ordering.
The location is a bit random and quite far from the main central area. However, the food was great, so the journey ended up being worth it.
The only thing to watch out for is the sporadic closures due to ceremonies. The restaurant was closed on our first visit so we had to leave and come back another day. It was a bit of a pain since the location is off the beaten path, but we didn't really mind since we had time to kill (and it was good motorcycle practice!). Personally, I would add more information regarding closures to the website, Google, Whatsapp etc. to avoid disappointing customers. Until then, if you are considering visiting Ratip, it might be worth messaging them on Whatsapp in advance to ensure they'll be open during your planned visiting time.
Overall, worth checking out, especially if you enjoy Mexican food. Whilst the atmosphere is a bit lacking, the ingredients are fresh, the tortillas are delicious, and the pricing is reasonable.
It would be great to see Ratip branch out to the central area of Nusa Lembongan one day, in a more...
