I love Italian food, I've been to Italy a couple of times, and I am very happy that the Serpong area has two Italian restaurants run by Italians (my favorite is still the one in Goldfinch). So when I found out there's another Italian restaurant called Spaghetto, I had to try it.
Had lunch for two, and since we didn't make any reservations, we got seated on the second floor at some kind of back dining area where the decor and comfort is different from the main areas, though you pay the same.
The front desk was too serious, not too welcoming, no pleasantries. It's as if they don't need diners. Different from other Italian restaurants I've been to without making reservations.
Back to our seats. We got a small table, seated directly under an AC, and right across from another AC unit, so it got freezing, and my husband had sneezing fits.
We got the complimentary bread basket with vinegar and oil to start off. The bread is nice and soft.
We ordered pizza classiche-Bismark, strozzapreti vongole bottarga, seadas for dessert, Italian orange soda, and ice tea.
The pizza was served first. Bismark has tomato sauce, mozzarella, pork bacon, mushrooms, and egg at the center. It was a good portion. The dough wasn't too thick or thin, just right. A lot of mozzarella and bacon (very good bacon). We liked the pizza.
Pasta was served next. It's homemade fresh pasta with clams, white wine sauce finished with bottarga la sardinia. The server was kind enough to provide an extra bowl for the clams, though our tiny table could barely fit all our meals. The clams were cooked well, the pasta was different and a good bite size. There were grated orange peels that gave zest to the meal. Surprisingly coherent with the white wine sauce and clams. It's worth the try.
Dessert was Seadas, their Sardinian specialty. Homemade puff pastry filled with cheese, lemon, and orange peel served hot and covered with honey and vanilla ice cream. It's safe to say it's good for two. The server cut it into as many pieces we like. The taste? Interesting. The combination of cheese, lemon & orange peel plus honey is surprising. I think it was mozzarella cheese, so it wasn't too salty, and the sweetness of the honey added balance to it.
Overall, we really enjoyed the food. The servers were attentive & kind...
Read moreEverything is perfect in this restaurant from the authentic Italian pasta and pizza to the high-class services, and the cozy atmosphere. This is one few restaurants that I think are perfect for every aspect.
Food 🍕: the pasta and pizza are delicious. It serves with more authentic Italian style of pasta and pizza. And the portion size is shockingly very large. We even had to ask the waiter to pack our food for takeaway. My favorite and their popular dish is Spaghetti Lobster. This dish offers delicious lobster poured with tomato spaghetti. It tastes so good, unlike any other spaghetti I have ever tried. The lobster meat is quite tender. Other foods such as pizza are thin and close to authentic Italian pizza. It is delicious too. For the beverage, I ordered Italian Orange Soda which was imported from Italy.
Service 🧑🍳: the service is perfect. The waiters are so friendly and welcoming. I was sitting on the second floor, and the waiters were very responsive. He can answer any of our questions and give us a recommendation for food, seems like he understands every dish in the restaurant. What I was amazed about the service was how responsive the waiters were to make sure customers felt comfortable. For example how quickly waiters offer to give new plates after our plates are dirty already. I think the service in this restaurant is already at the same level as a high-class hotel restaurant.
Price 💵: the price is quite pricey if we compare it to other surrounding restaurants. But, I think the price is quite normal for an authentic Italian-style restaurant. Other similar restaurants can cost even more. The high-level service is one of the things I would spend more tips for.
Place 🏡: the restaurant is quite small but the seating arrangement is already good with the gap with other tables being quite spacious. This restaurant has an Italian restaurant interior design that makes customers feel like an authentic Italian restaurant. I like the atmosphere. It is cozy and...
Read moreI like the texture of the pasta here (you can tell it's fresh), but for me the taste is semi-mediocre. For example, I ordered the Fettuccine al Granchio and it was a bit too salty. The portion is fair, but for the price I would love something more "wow."
Specific reviews (I've visited this place for 5 times): Ravioli del plin. My absolute favorite. I think it's the most worth-it order. It tastes so good and the portion is fair. Will reorder in the future. Fettuccine al Granchio. For the price I thought we would get a lot of crab meat. But we didn't. The sauce was also too salty. Would not reorder. Tondini el Tartufo. Taste very "mushroom-y." if you like mushroom, this one is an okay order. Channelloni Gratinati. It's okay. If you like bechamel sauce, it's pretty good. But for me it feels unsatisfying since there's so little beef (it's 90% spinach). Spaghetti Macking. There's nothing special about the taste. We got a lot of prawns, but that's the only positive of this pasta. Would not reorder again. Strozzapreti Vongole e Bottarga. It's quite good but generally just an okay pasta considering the price. Rosa pizza. Taste okay but it's too expensive. Would not reorder again. Potato Gratinate. It's so good. It blows my mind how good this dish is. The flavors are perfectly married to each other and the texture is nice. Will definitely order again.
Service is top-notch. However, I will only give this place 3.5 stars (rounded down to 3) since the price:taste ratio is just okay. Definitely will recommend if you crave authentic pasta, but not my go-to dinner place. I'm also not a fan of the "basement-like section" at the second floor. It's awful...
