The Coffee Academics - Bintaro XChange 2 — Restaurant in Pondok Aren

Had an outstanding experience while having a dinner with my dad here on Thursday. Never thought their coffee would exceed my expectations as I thought it was just another overpriced and pretentious place to have a coffee.

Most of their coffee are latte-based although they also provide black coffee variants which I can tell it must be tasty. My dad ordered the usual black coffee and I ordered their Dirty Coffee where the espresso was mixed with cold milk. I thought the taste of the coffee would be overpowered by the cold milk which happened a lot with latte-based coffee. However, I was impressed by the strength and balance taste of the coffee and milk. I could still taste the bitterness of the coffee and the soft taste out of the milk without making it too creamy. It was absolutely amazing ❤.

Talking about their pastry, I ordered a pistachio-raspberry croissant which scored another love for this place. The nutty and slightly sour taste out of the croissant blend perfectly with the Dirty Coffee 👍🏻.

The later the night, I ordered another cup of hot Jawa coffee with the hint of pandan flavour and a plate of Creamy Chicken Pesto Pasta to share with my dad. None of these were disappointing. The coffee was creamy without overly too sweet, the pasta was creamy and fulfilling, all good.

Their ambience was completed by the great choice of music playlist and none of them were disappointing either. Definitely this is the place where I would pay a visit next time on the weekday as they have this 2 hours policy during the weekend for accommodating more customers.

For a new posh coffee shop this place quickly loose it's charm after you put your order in. It takes them very long to serve your food and they even didn't serve a menu that I've ordered when I finally decided to leave. Just a simple sorry wouldn't suffice if you are proclaiming yourself a top tier coffee shop and especially for the very high premium you are charging your drinks and food.

The food and coffee are undoubtedly great and the ambiance and the design of the place are very contemporary and comfortable, but I think these two alone will be forgotten by your patrons if you don't get the "experience" right.

The only thing that stuck with me after coming here is how bad the service are, but I know they could do better. They wouldn’t be this successful if they don't offer great service!

Hopefully the service is better if I ever visit this place again. I think it may be that this outlet was newly opened and still working out the kinks. Hopefully 🤞🏼

This was the first time i tried the coffee academics and it definitely did not dissapoint. We didn’t try anything else other than their coffee. It was a bit expensive (we paid IDR 150.000ish for 2 cups) but it was worth it. Coffee was strong yet very smooth. The staff was very kind and knowledgable about their coffee. And the most surprising thing.. the staff apologized for the “loud environment” because I brought my infant baby with me. I was seating next to a table of 4 girls and they were so loud. She politely asked me if the baby was ok with the noise and if I needed to move table. As a new mom, this was very touching for me (shout out to that short hair waitress, i forgot to ask her name). I really appreciate her gesture but told her it was fine. Every staff seems so friendly and the food actually looks good! We just had some lunch so probably next time cause we’ll definitely be back in...
