Kue Kia Theng 899 Merapi — Restaurant in Pontianak

"Kwe Kia Theng" is a quite popular dish from Pontianak, West Kalimantan. Basically, it’s a pork-based noodle soup with a bunch of different toppings. The soup is comforting and full of flavor, made with flat rice noodles (kwetiau) and a light, soy sauce-based broth. It usually comes with pork offal like intestines, ears, and belly, plus extras like fried tofu and boiled eggs.

The broth is soy-sauce based, so it’s dark in color but still light in texture. The noodles are soft and thin. All the meats are pre-seasoned and cooked ahead of time, so when you order, the vendor just assembles everything and pours hot broth over it. You can choose your own toppings, or just go with the “campur” (mixed) option if you want a bit of everything.

For someone trying this dish for the first time—like me—it might take a little getting used to. I’ve never really eaten the more unusual parts of pork before, like ears, liver, tongue (I think?), and probably some other stuff I couldn’t even identify. There’s also a spice or seasoning in the broth that tasted unfamiliar to me—I couldn’t quite figure out what it was.

Honestly, it’s not my favorite dish. But I have to admit, the more I ate it, the more I started to enjoy it. You know what I mean? And once you add the liquid chili sauce, it really levels up the flavor.

One portion of Kwe Kia Theng, a glass of hot unsweetened tea, and a glass of iced Liang Tea cost me IDR 40K total, which is pretty standard.

PRODUK: Menu utama disini jelas Kue Kia Theng (nama tmptnya aja Kue Kia Theng 899) 😂 Rasanya mnrt saya enak. Dsini teman2 bisa request juga mau pakai daging jeroan, daging panggangnya aja, atau gmna. HARGA: Dari segi harga mnrt saya cukup terjangkau. Sekitar 25-35rb/porsi, tergantung teman² custom order gmna 😁

TEMPAT: Dari segi tmpt, sama kyk restoran klasik Chinese pada umumnya. Masuk aja udh byk gantungan kalender China nya, bgtulah nuansanya 😄 Tmptnya gak trllu luas sih, jdi kl bawa rombongan bus yaa susah sihh wkwkwk

Salah satu Kue Kia Theng yang ada di Pontianak, yang terletak di tengah kota serta berada di sebrang Warkop Ashiang (Jl. Merapi). Rasa dari Kue Kia Theng ini lumayan enak, juga daging yang di sediakan juga lumayan empuk dan enak. Harga yang ditawarkan juga standar pasaran yaitu 30.000 untuk satu porsi Kue Kia Theng (menurut saya porsi nya pas karena daging yang ditawarkan juga lumayan banyak) bisa juga di request menggunakan kwetiau atau Mie (Indomie).

Hanya saja pada saat pagi hari lumayan sulit mencari tempat parkir (harus parkir di jalan Agus Salim/ Jl. Diponegoro) karena Jl Merapi tergolong kecil dan juga pagi biasanya ramai orang yang pergi ke Warkop Ashiang.
