The venue is NOT OK and we have been going to Bali for over 40yrs. Why would this place charge 16 % charge every time drinks are ordered including food. Every time we ordered it was $10 extra Aud every round! You as owners need to trust your customers 16% really 😔
Edit-
Responding back to the Black Sands response WOW You have miss read my review. I had to change it to be honest.Don’t ever question 40years has changed. You haven’t lived through all the changes guru and don’t ever underestimate what we know about Bali and Canggu. I expected this response looking at reviews with 1star when they are what they are not expecting. Listen to your customers and not be arrogant about it. It is your choice to charge 16% additional fee and that is your right. I also have the right to voice my feedback. I have a villa in Canggu for over 20years and understand the changes mate. Don’t be disrespectful to the locals and rubbish Bintang. The Barn pub & kitchen is way ahead on how to treat customers with feedback. Also a better place to actually enjoy drinks and food. Why would I come to your overrated place and PAY 16% every time we order drinks and food. Good luck if you last another 2years when people wake up. There are a lot of respectful places to spend money and support locals. Woods, Shelter, Barn, Cinta, Gimme More, Penny lane, Frabbica, Dues, Luigi etc…….. also burgers were ordinary and what do you tell the kitchen staff don’t put the meat in there!Do you think breweries survive over time with that attitude. You can rely on Europe customers for so long, leave that with you. But honestly to all people that enjoy Bali and Canggu there are better places, Trust us read there 1star reviews and their responses to the reviews. To all that see this review, I would have like a reasonable reply from the Owner and not saying don’t come back. I don’t think that anyone has said on Google that I can recall don’t come back. This business has said numerous times check there reviews. Bintang in Eco beach is pretty surreal in the last 3 photos. I have to respect the locals here. Here was an example of our burgers ordered. Where is the smash burger meat. Edit - to owner second response. Don’t understand, this is our experience and not sure where your response is coming from. Report me because I’m honest on my reviews. It is my personal opinion and I have every right to express that. Good luck in the future. If you took my review seriously, why would your first reply mention Don’t come back. Please review the owners response. Please see last photo the response from owner. They have deleted their...
Read moreDear Blacksand Management
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to share feedback regarding a recent bad experience at your place
One of your staff members, Anna (Host), interacted with our group in a manner that felt unprofessional and discourteous. She addressed us in a rude and angry tone first - which left a negative impression on what is otherwise a venue we really enjoy. We understand that dogs must be unleashed at times, and our dogs have never annoyed anyone unlike the Blacksand's dog. IF all dogs must be unleashed then it is only make sense for the Blacksand dogs must be unleashed too as he is the one who barks. I understand he is not aggressive and so are our dogs, however the way she said it was really unpleasant. When we addressed that her tone was not nice and asked if she could tone down, she talked back and being defensive. My friend and I are regular customers, and this was the first and second instance where we experienced such treatment from her (yes, the same person) which is uncharacteristic of the high standards we have come to expect from Blacksand's team (really the rest is incredible)
I kindly request that you address this matter and ensure that all staff are guided in maintaining a polite and respectful approach when interacting with customers. If there are issues to be communicated or clarified, I believe they should be done in a constructive and professional...
Read moreSuch a disappointment. My partner and I were excited to visit a local brewery and wish we hadn’t bothered. We had a bottle of water with us from outside (obviously as it’s 30+ degrees) and in the mid afternoon heat. I drank some of my water when sitting down and was told off and that I wasn’t allowed to drink my water. I said no problem, and about 5 mins later I was told by another waiter (my water was in my bag at this point and not to being drunk), that I had to put my bottle of water away completely out of sight and was not allowed to drink this.
This is beyond a joke - no restaurant has this policy (not only Bali but internationally). It’s a bottle of water, it’s nothing to do with the venue licensing. It’s them trying to monetise as much as possible.
We were planning on staying for a few drinks, but after this experience we left promptly after one drink.
There were loads of staff milling around but seemed reluctant to actually serve. When I asked if I could taste one of the beers (very common policy to do in a brewery…) I was told I had to go up to the bar and do it myself. This is all whilst charging us table service.
There are far nicer places in Canggu with lovely staff - steer clear!
(Also being a London local - I wouldn’t expect to pay the same prices, especially when compared with...
