The food and service is always fantastic here, whether it's casual a la carte or the special nights, like the BBQ buffet with Balinese music and dance night -- which fell on my birthday this year, bonus! 🥂
The atmosphere is impeccable, with the open skies over the jungle valley, and a plethora of night fauna: tiny lizards, bats in the trees, crickets and more. (Mosquito sticks under the table are very helpful.)
The relaxing vibe at the Dining Corner is partly that wonderful setting, as well as the super friendly, proactive service from all staff. I love Australia but food service is often miss-or-hit (yep, changed it to reflect the trend lines); this level of staff service is gold class, even without having a birthday celebration there. The Happy Birthday surprise cake and song almost felt like being with family and friends! 🎂
Food wise, nearly everything we've had on multiple visits has been delicious. For us, highlights included: grilled mahi mahi, pork ribs, tom yum gai, crispy duck, mei Goreng, and on BBQ night, all the proteins were perfectly cooked.
Have you seen Ray Gun embarrassing the whole of Australia at the 2024 Olympics? Then you'll love that the Balinese dance performances on BBQ night also included audience participation.😏 No medals were given out on the night we went, but we got video and an experience that will entertain our family and friends for ages no doubt. 😂 #moveslikejagger
We'll definitely return, as the Kayumanis is always our 1st choice in Ubud, and if you're booking a villa there or staying in the area, the Dining Corner is a perfect choice for a delicious, romantic evening. Highly...
Read moreWe stayed at the Kayumanis hotel, and so had the benefit (or in this case the downfall) of eating here a few times, both in villa delivery and in the restaurant.
While the setting is indeed beautiful and quiet in the evenings, and the staff serving you are lovely, the food is horrifyingly and not great.
With the large variety of options in Ubud and across Bali, all the entree’s we tried the entire time we were there was not great. Our breakfast showed up cold most days, even when we ate in the restaurant. We heard from the other guests too that the bread / their toast was stale, so we avoided that for breakfast too. In all other dishes, the chicken tasted frozen and dry, whether it’s in a Tom yum soup or in a Nasi Goreng, or in a chicken dish. The crispy duck was overcooked (very flavorful) but so overcooked and dry that I had to use both hands and my teeth to rip any meat off the bone. I could name all the dishes we tried but this would be a disaster.
I have to give the flavoured white rice to them - that was the highlight of our meals.
After suffering a few times, Grab was our best friend in ensuring we could still have in villa meals that...
Read moreLocated in the amazing Kayumanis Ubud resort, the restaurant offers a range of cuisines that are sure to please anyone. Chef Made and his team easily accommodated our dietary preferences (pescatarian), and added thoughtful touches to every meal - like amuse bouches. Every dish was delicious. We preferred the Indonesian and Thai offerings to the Western. Guests of the resort can take their meals in their villa or at the restaurant. We opted for both, because the view at the restaurant from high over the forest valley was breathtaking. The restaurant staff were attentive and prompt. We enjoyed a day with Sous Chef Torris, who took us to a local market and taught us to cook a few dishes. That was a wonderful experience. Worth a...
