When I discovered this hidden gem in Batu Bolong, my first impulse was to keep it to myself, to enjoy the delicious cocktails, the island’s best DJs, and the quirky, sensual aesthetic well into the wee hours of the morning without opening the floodgates of the fame I knew would eventually come to it. In short, I was selfish.

But I am a changed man, because what makes Platonic so fun is that even though it’s a semi-secret speakeasy tucked away off the main road, it’s the most genuinely welcoming party (or should I say afterparty) in Canggu, where people can let their freak flags fly with super friendly staff and the most chic clientele I’ve seen on the island. Great venue + music, however HORRIBLE (massive understatement) attitude from the staff - mainly the dj. We were the only patrons, having to scream to even converse. I nicely asked the DJ to turn it down, his reaction was to make the music even more unbearably louder. Like I literally couldn’t even hear myself think.

Not sure the reason for this attitude problem, but go check yourself. Place was empty too, and now I understand why 😂 I expressed my concern to the waitstaff, just a half hearted apology. Amazing cocktails! The bartender was considerate of our preferences and made sure that what we had an enjoyable night. Additionally, the atmosphere was really nice as well as the interior (cocktail lounge vibe, low lighting, good place for a date). The entrance is quite hidden, we had to ask the parking attendant to find the door and they walked us. Overall great experience - would especially recommend the Miami Coco White for a taste of something a little sweeter (white chocolate flavour but not overpowering, still quite fresh and strong) and Adults Only is far more bold and spicy than a regular Hanky Panky.
