There is so much to love about dining at Sardine which is somewhat outdoors dining while overlooking a rice field. Even more impressive on the evening we went, was lightening performance that lit up the Indonesian sky. I found that Sardine was a restaurant to simply take a chance on. Order things you’d not naturally be attracted to and order something different. At a restaurant like this where the Head Chef is French, you know it’s going to be simply amazing and for me, it was. Earlier in the day, I was trawling through Sardine’s Instagram and found a recent image of their new creamy coconut clams and concluded that I’d be ordering them despite never having had a clam previously. Yes you really do eat with your eyes. Not only was the presentation beautiful it was hands down one of the best dishes I have had in some time. The creamy coconut sauce had delicate spice and seasoned really well. It was served with a toasted piece of ciabatta perfect to mop up the sauce after you had finished. For my main, I took the advice of the host who had suggested the special which was four large succulent and juicy prawns, the biggest I have ever seen. They were served butterflied and grilled with chimichurri and beurre blanc accompaniments plus blanched beans, baby carrots and baby corn. We did order sides, they were equally amazing but we did not at all need them; the most tasty pomme puree (mash potato) full of beautiful butter and a zucchini gratin. Sardine is pure decadence and we had to be rolled out. Two things to be mind of;
1/ Ensure you use mosquito repellent. Take your own or use the one provided and use it frequently
2/ Service is...

From the moment I stepped into this restaurant, I knew I was in for something special—but nothing could have prepared me for just how extraordinary the experience would be. Every single detail, from the atmosphere to the final bite of dessert, was nothing short of perfection.
The food was out of this world. Not only was every dish bursting with rich, refined flavors, but the presentation was absolutely next level. Each plate arrived like a piece of art—vibrant, thoughtful, and clearly crafted with passion. It was the kind of plating you almost feel guilty disturbing… almost.
The service? I honestly don’t think I’ve ever experienced anything quite like it. Every single need, no matter how small, was anticipated and taken care of without even having to ask. The staff were warm, intuitive, and incredibly knowledgeable. You felt completely looked after, but never overwhelmed—true hospitality at its finest.
And then came the desserts, which completely stole the show. I highly, highly recommend the salted caramel crème brûlée. Silky, perfectly set custard with a delicate crack of caramelized sugar on top, elevated by just the right balance of sweet and salty—it was absolutely divine. I’d go back for that alone.
I can confidently say this is one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. I would genuinely fly from Australia to Bali just to eat here again. If you’re considering dining here—don’t hesitate. Just book it. This place is a culinary gem that leaves a...
Read moreThe place is tucked away behind a nice wall facing the road almost directly across from DaMaria. I never noticed it even I passed multiple time. The atmosphere is very nice. The lighting and decoration was spot on and then there was this whimsical lighting across the rice field that moved with the wind …. Super cool.
So I get to meet my party at a long table as we were about 12. I was a bit late so we hurried and order several dishes sheeted to order some wine. The wine list took so long to come and it was difficult to get a servers attention. Maybe it wa because our table was off to the side but it seemed unusually slow. I looked around and it did not seem to be super busy.
The food came out all around once. I thought it would come out in some order as I ordered appetizer, salad, and fir main course yellow fin tuna, and large prawn with zucchini. But it showed up all at once and without any wine. So I finally hit the servers attention and ordered a French wine.
So the wine was a disappointment…. It has nothing to do with the restaurant as they served the wine nicely in ice bucket and brought appropriate wine glasses. I’m venting about Bali wine ( it’s always too expensive and always disappoints). Anyways. The food was really good. Better than I expected and presentation was nice too.
So overall it’s a place worth visiting. I think I may have caught the servers off their game. But I thought the service level could really improve and make this dining experience worth...
