Wow!! Firstly, this cafe is a non profit organisation for Indonesian kiddies with special needs. Upon walking in, i was met with the biggest smiles and welcomed like i was an old friend. The garden like space has a vibe anyone would find relaxing. The staff are 10/10 wonderful. The food...oh the food. I was literally drooling waiting for my order, the aromas hinted at a cook who uses fresh ingredients and knows what they are doing. I ordered the falafel wrap, green curry vegetables, spring rolls and i cannot praise these dishes enough. Absolutely delicious!! If youre in the area, i highly recommend popping in for some wonderful food, gorgeous people, warm, loving atmosphere and supporting the communities and people who need it most. Thank you Global Village, we will be back xxx Edit - during our 3week stay in nearby Kalianget, we ate at Global Village Kafe daily and worked our way through many more dishes. We found the following ones delicious also - vegetable pakhora, sate tuna kebabs, chicken korma, spiced lentils, fish burger, grilled fish & salad, alllll the juices, The beautiful staff were always attentive and welcoming. The cook, kudos to her daily consistency in producing memorable, tasty meals…what a legend! Thank you again, we will never forget you guys and your wonderful...
Read moreAfter reading all the wonderful reviews, we tried to dine here on the night we arrived in Lovina, but it was so packed we were turned away.
We got in early tonight, and now we can see why it gets so busy! The atmosphere was lovely, the service was outstanding, and the food was phenomenal.
We ordered the vegetable masala and lentil curry dishes, which both came with rice & naan. The masala was a beautiful mild curry that was extra rich and creamy. The dhal was full of flavour with a nice little spicy kick. My favourite was the chargrilled tempeh with satay sauce - incredible texture and flavour 20/10! I also tried a lemon & ginger juice, which was super refreshing.
The serving sizes were VERY generous (we struggled to finish them), the prices were great value, and the service was fabulous. Staff were all super friendly and professional.
We also got to stock up on goodies from the little gift store area. I can highly recommend the papaya & aloe vera body lotion. It smells divine and absorbs super quickly.
We will be back again before we leave for sure. This is an amazing place supporting an...
Read moreThe food, atmosphere, and purpose at The Global Village Foundation are awesome. This is a must stop off even if you only stay for a quick coffee!
The staff here are mostly deaf, so for those with Gluten allergy / GF Intolerance /Celiac disease, I would recommend coming with an Indonesian Celiac restaurant card, and maybe some key phrases to show the staff on Google translate. If you are Celiac, I would recommend that you advocate for yourself, and come at an off peak time of day - I am confident the staff will be able to support you.
For me, all the staff read through the information on my phone (all 6 of them!). They took their time to understand and discussed between them. Then they came back and told me which meals that they could make work for me.
I ended up having the Sate Ayam, and a Vanilla Milkshake - both delicious! All ingredients appeared to be Gluten free, and the kitchen and staff took the allergy serious, which is all I can ask for.
I would very strongly recommend visiting, as every Rupiah spent supports their mission of helping Bali’s disabled and...
