I had an enchanting evening at Wayang Restaurant in Ubud—the kind of place that instantly feels like a peaceful retreat. Perched among lush greenery, its open-air pavilion with traditional wooden beams and soft lantern lighting offers sweeping views of the jungle canopy and a serene river valley beyond. The menu offers a well-balanced mix of Indonesian classics and international dishes, each dish highlighting fresh ingredients and vibrant flavors. What really stood out was the gentle, attentive service—our server seemed to sense just when we needed a refill or wanted a moment to linger, keeping things smooth and unobtrusive. With a relaxed yet refined vibe, Wayang struck the perfect tone for a memorable dinner—inviting you to unwind, savor your meal, and soak in the natural...

This place was thoroughly disappointing (I was expecting a 4.8* restaurant at western prices). I had the mie goreng, which was decidedly average, at 3x the cost of any normal warung, where you can tell that the staff are more connected with the business that they are working in.

The detail that annoyed me - they give you a pretty icky plate of chips as a starter for free. A small bottle of water costs 47K. There is no filtered water provided outside of that, so once you’re thirsty, you need to buy a bottle of water for $3. I can only assume that the reviews are so high because most people who eat here live at the expensive resort that it’s situated on, and it’s a hassle to go anywhere else if you don’t have a scooter, as it’s...

Went here on a night out, on a Saturday, and even though I got here with some friends around 7:30pm, we were the only people in the restaurant for a little while. That didn't matter. The servers were kind, patient, and attentive, and the food was delicious. We got the mie goreng, the trio Babi, the beef satay skewers, the black pepper beef, and the coconut pancakes, and all was amazing. We did spend a lot, because there were three of us and we wanted to share a bunch of different things, but it was worth it. They even started setting off some fireworks. The ambience is amazing and the location is quiet. I'd absolutely come back, because everything was so...

My local drive suggested this place after a long morning visiting the rice fields and coffee shops. He said I’ll love the food but didn’t quite believe him. Since you enter the restaurant the staff makes you feel like you’re a royalty. Flowers in your hair and lovely greetings. The table was facing the rice fields and it was absolutely amazing. The food was very fresh and lovely served. I had an amazing ice tea and couldn’t get enough of the view. The kindness of the staff impressed me. I can’t wait to go again to this amazing place and try more of their menu. You have to try it!!
