Wonderful little warung (restaurant) up Suweta street from the Ubud Palace. Looks like one of just many other little places, but it's a hidden gem. The food is great, and the prices are significantly below what you'll find closer to central Ubud. Example: Soto Ayum (chicken soup) in early 2019 is 23,000 rp (or app. $1.60 USD with current conversion rates). Same with Cap Cay (stir-fried vegetables with chicken). Nasi Goreng (fried rice) and Mie Goreng (friend noodles) are about there also... The owner and cook will adapt the dishes to your liking. So if you want mushrooms instead of chicken, she'll do that. You just have to ask. Very personable owner, who is the wife. Husband shows up in the evenings, as he works as a driver during the day, and he's more than happy to share with you travel suggestions. Highly recommend. I've probably eaten here at least 30 times...
Read moreIf you want to have dinner in peace it’s not here. Very disappointed about the personal. I was waiting for my food with my bf, and a Russian guy that was sitting there too, came to see us at our table and started insulting us (with absolutely no reason). He also spoke Bahasa and was talking about us to the personal and they were just laughing. I asked the guy to please leave us alone, I’d like to wait for my food in peace and he said that he is in his country so he can do whatever he wanted. He was just waiting for one thing: to fight. And again the personal didn’t do anything at all. I spoke to the owner after, he just apologized to us without doing anything more. That’s sad cause the food is actually very good but of course I’ll not return there, not feeling safe with this guy around and the restaurant not...
Read moreLovely cozy warung a 10 minutes walk away from the main street. Always a warm welcome when you visit. Have been visiting this warung almost everyday for the last 2 weeks. Waitresses are friendly and happy to serve you.
Most of the time at night the husband of the owner is there to have a chat, and is happy to share tips and tricks where to go and what to do.
Tasty REAL Indonesian food: nasi goreng, mee goreng, gado gado, chicken satay, chicken soto (vegetarian meals also available). Confirmed by the local people who also come here to eat. Aswell they serve some western dishes: chicken burger, french fries and avocado wraps. The menu is fairly priced dishes starting from 12K - 35K.
Overall had a good time in this place, and would say give it a try when you're around Ubud.
Terimah...
