Pelangi Cheese Chiffon Cake, Ice Cream and Coffee — Restaurant in Semarang

The atmosphere and ambience of the cafe are wonderful and comfortable. However, I had an unfortunate experience with the service. I had to wait quite a while before my order was taken (perhaps due to a busy time) but I ended up having to ask three times before anyone came to take my order, while guests who arrived after me were served more promptly.

Additionally, I encountered an uncomfortable situation with the payment process. I had already paid for my food at the cashier before ordering a chiffon cake. After everything was settled, I went outside to wait for my ride. The server who opened the door for me was not particularly friendly. While waiting outside near the entrance, a male server approached and asked about my payment, assuming I hadn’t paid. He asked two or three times, even though I had already confirmed I had paid. He then spoke to two other staff members (one at the door and one at the cashier) to confirm that I had indeed paid. I eventually showed them my receipt to clarify the situation.

While I appreciate the staff’s politeness in double-checking, I believe there is room for improvement in both service and payment handling. Clearer communication and better coordination among the team would help prevent situations like this in the future. This would certainly enhance the overall customer experience. First time here. It is like an all-in-one place for hangout. You can choose outdoor sitting for a nice sip or smoking while enjoying a cup of coffee and poffertjes (dutch pancake). Inside you can have various food, ranging from western style such as steak and pasta, and off course local Indonesian and Asian food.

We tried the Soto Betawi and turns out it's quite good, rich in taste and it comes in quite big portion, can shared by two people. Just the rice is too little (seems like 1/2 of normal portion).

Nasi timbel is a overpriced, it comes with a fried chicken, fried tempeh, fried tofu, a small piece of salted fish (jambal roti), a bowl of sayur asam and off course sambal. The taste is okay but the chicken is too small for 37k.

Spaghetti Carbonara is quite standard, not much comment. And so does for the steamed cheese corn.

Much disappointment is with the Zuppa soup. It was really under expectation. It comes as a bowl of cream mushroom soup, suspected just made from instant powder soup with added mushroom and the bowl does not covered with pastry. It was just 2 sticks of pastry.

The price? well i found it very affordable. They accept credit and debit card payment as well.

Penataan tempat: Tempat tidak terlalu luas, bahkan bisa dibilang sempit dibandingkan jumlah pengunjungnya (tempat ini cukup ramai terutama pada toko oleh-olehnya). Lahan parkir terbatas. Tersedia ruangan outdoor dan indoor untuk dine in.

Pelayanan: Luar biasa, bintang lima. Pegawai di sini melayani dengan sangat sigap, ramah dan memaparkan menu/penjelasan dengan jelas. Pegawai juga mempedulikan preferensi pengguna dalam melayani. Beberapa kali saya makan ditempat yang menjual dessert dan makanan utama bersamaan, tidak semua pegawai menanyakan dahulu urutan makan/keluarnya makanan. Di tempat ini dilayani dengan baik dan tepat seperti yang disepakati.

Reviu: Untuk hidangan utama saya memesan nasi goreng terasi pedas, rasanya sangat enak. Terasinya terasa, porsi besar, nasi ini disajikan dengan potongan daging, dadar iris yang melimpah, timun, kerupuk udang, rasanya pas tidak hambar tidak juga terlalu asin, pedasnya tipikal pedas yang terasa tapi masih "sopan". Saya juga memesan Ice Cream Brownies sebagai dessert. Saya bebas untuk memilih 2 dari 4 rasa es krim yang tersedia (stroberi, vanila, coklat dan moka). Hidangan tersaji dengan dua tumpuk es krim (saya memilih rasa storberi dan coklat) yang diberi topping coklat cair, pada dasar es krim terdapat biskuit dan di puncaknya terdapat sponge cruch. Kemudian disajikan bersamaan dengan semangkuk mini brownies. Brownies yang tersaji tipikal brownies kering dan cukup renyah, namun tidak sampai menyusahkan untuk dimakan, langsung lumer/hancur di mulut, manisnya dan teksturnya pas untuk selera saya (saya tipikal orang yang tidak terlalu suka manis). Yang paling mengejutkan adalah rasa es krimnya, menurut saya es krim rasa stroberi dan coklat adalah rasa es krim yang cukup sulit untuk dibuat. Kadang terlalu hambar, kadang terlalu manis, kadang terlalu masam atau terlalu pahit. Es krim coklat menurut saya manisnya pas tapi kurang kuat rasa coklatnya, untuk es krim stroberi semuanya sempurna masamnya terasa, manisnya tidak mengganggu/mendominasi, creamy susunya juga terasa. Saya sangat merekomendasikan es krim terutama rasa stroberinya. Terakhir, tidak lengkap rasanya ke Pelangi kalau tidak membawa pulang chiffon mereka. Chiffon yang lembut dengan isian keju yang melimpah. Selain chiffon terdapat banyak pilihan oleh-oleh yang bisa di bawa pulang.

Satu kelebihan tambahan dari tempat ini adalah buka dari pagi sampai malam. Saya rasa tempat ini cocok dengan slogan "sekali dayung dua tiga pulau terlampaui". Sarapan, Makan Siang, Makan Malam? Bisa!, Ngopi? Bisa!, Ngemil? Bisa!, masih plus ada minishop yang menyajikan beragam oleh-oleh yang bisa di bawa pulang.
