Historica — Restaurant in Surabaya

Here is my experience here. The waitress gave me the menu, i was waiting for another friends, so she said to call her when i'm ready. Look at the menu and tried to order, call her, she didn't response. I approached the bar to order, and mentioned my orders. But she asked me to go back to my seat cause she's still going to bring some food to other table. I had to pee, but I had to wait just to repeat my order. Oh and after I order, i tried to took picture from slr camera and they approached me and informed us that they require you to buy Rp 750k for taking pictures using SLR camera. This whole place and only 1 server taking order and delivering food while the male server only come to tell us not to take photos, pizza came but no plate no fork, we had to ask for them and the servers weren't smiling either....I think with the price you guys should afford better service. There are better and friendlier cafes. Update: finally some other servers came. I don't where they were but suddenly there are 4 or 5 more. I came @2pm and the servers spurges after 3. Visited Historica with friends after having lunch at the nearby Domicile resto. The place is cosy enough and has decent ambience. But I was expecting good coffee or drinks as it's not a franchise coffee shop. It was disappointing in the coffee. Taste wasn't good even for a simple espresso. Coffee beans blend used for espresso tasted 'old' and were not the rich/bold/chocolaty flavour, but a rather acidic type. I could barely drink it. I was afraid it'll make a hole in my stomach with so much acid. Prices are ok, but was alps disappointing that for a double espresso they charge double the price as opposed to a percentage higher instead. So my double espresso was 54k! Unheard of as it's not an elaborate drink like a cappuccino. My friends ordered the affogato, wasn't excellent (again, I suppose due to the coffee used) but over all they liked it. I visited the cafe for a business meeting. Overall, I enjoyed my visit because the ambiance was well-suited for my business meeting.

The interior of the cafe is interesting but they need to pay attention to the hygiene and maintenance of the building. I saw moulds on the wall which drastically lowered my appetite. The service is nice, everybody is polite and fast responsive. However, a couple of workers behind the bar table had a loud convo with one another that involved Javanese curses (yes, with the J and C words repeatedly mentioned) . It happened for a solid 10 mins or so. It really was a turn-off and destroy the mood. They shouldn't have done that in the working area, let alone around customers. The last one, the food is okay. The taste is standard. Nothing to complain really.

Hopefully, they will pay attention more on the building maintenance and staff's...
