Magal Korean BBQ Pakuwon Square - Surabaya Barat — Restaurant in Surabaya

on Nov 30 2019 we (7pax) had dinner at Magal Korean BBQ restaurant, Ruko Pakuwon square AK2-37, Jl Mayjen Yono Suwoyo, Surabaya Barat. We were offered to buy Magal e-membership by 1 of the staff who prepared our meal for Rp 249,000. The benefit is, free buy 1 get 1. We have asked for many times to confirm that if we buy 1 meal, we will get 1 meal free, and she agreed it. We have ordered 6 meals assuming that we could get 3 meals free. Before payment, that staff who served us, offered to buy one more e-memberhip. We were offered (again!) to buy another e-membership by another staff.

But..... when payment was done, we got only 1 meal free instead of 3 meals as we assumed and was confirmed by Magal's staff.who served us. The Supervisor/Cashier still insist said that already stated that MENU TERMAHAL KEDUA FREE without explaining the meaning of FREE BUY 1 GET 1.

NO INVOICE for e-membership payment. Attached the brochure of e-membership and see what Magal's offering. Ut states that ALA CARTE MENU GET FREE BUY ONE GET ONE(MENU TERMAHAL KEDUA FREE) All statement is in english, except MENU TERMAHAL KEDUA FREE in indonesian. Even we have bought 1 membership, the staffs still offered us to buy another membership. their staffs' sales target? We are really, really upset, mad for this kind of purposely misinterpretation. Magal should escalate their staff's knowledge of their promotion! It's not fair for customers!!!! We understand if it stated FREE 1 MENU FROM TOTAL BILL!! And NOT...

First of all it is my first time eating at a Korean BBQ place.

Their staff is super friendly and could explain well regarding different selections of meats.

They have pork and beef.

For me it is quite pricey (perhaps because I am still poor 🤡🗿)

Quite crowded when dinner time (7P.M.)

I spent IDR 900.000± after tax for 2 people.

Ordered : 1 Large portion Nunkoktsal (Prime ribs beef) 1 Cheese Tteokbokki 1 Large portion Mapo Gaelmagi (Pork skirtmeat) 2 cups of rice.

Well quite a lot for two people 😅.

Overall I enjoyed the premium beef but that's it, I prefer a steak rather than a small cut of beef.

P.S. if I'm not wrong large portion is 200 grams beef.

Indonesian: Hai semuanya!! Kali ini mau BBQan sambil rayain anniversary di Magal.. Lokasinya di Pakuwon Square (kompleks ruko sebelah Pakuwon Mall) jadi parkirnya luas, sesuai jumlah slot parkir di Pakuwon Square. Cuma memurutku alur jalurnya kurang jelas yaa.. di deket fave hotel ini kita sampai berhenti 15 menitan karena sisa 1 jalur dibuat 2 arah dan kita dipaksa mengalah ama satpam pakuwon squarenya. Hemm.. Okee lanjut ke menunya yang kita coba: Mapo Samgyeopsal (마포 삼겹살) (110k) Ini mantap sihh.. tebel dagingnya, waktu dibakar wangi bangett dan teksturnya kalo masaknya pas bisa empukk banget. Rekomendasiku olesin dikit dengan saus dan kecapnya supaya lebih "marinated" dan "caramelized" ahahaahaha. Jangan lupa di wrap dengan selada, kimchi dan garlic! Wenakkk dahhh

Mulnaengmyeon (물냉면) (88,8k) Mie dingin dengan bumbu gochujang yang refreshing dan enakk.. aku sukak poll sih ini. Tekstur mienya itu halus tapi juga ada chewynya tipis, tapi kayak bihun gimana gt. Rasa kuahnya asem manis pedes menyegarkan. Recommended!!

Egg (refill) Ini Signaturenya Magal sih aslinya, kalo kalian pesen 2 jenis daging bisa dapat ini free loo.. cuma karena kita berdua doang, mampunya pesen 1 daging ajah dan harus pesen terpisah ahahaahah.. jadi ini ada kayak kimchi yang dipanggang di sisi sisi kompornya, lalu saat setengah mateng, dituanglah adonan telurnya. Setelah mateng dipotong potong sama tim Magalnya dan siap disantap. Teksturnya lembut, tastenya gurih dan sedikit asem dari kimchinya. Ok sih menurutku hohohohoo

Udah pesen 3 menu itu ajahh sisanya makan banchan ahaahahah.. Banchannya yg enak menurutku Pajeon (파전) alias korean pancakenya sama kimchi timunnya yang asem manis seger. Untuk dessertnya bisa pilih antara kopi, watermelon atau Cinnamon Ginger. Kita nyobain cinnamon ginger dan cukup unik, tapi menurutku bukan rasa yang semua orang sukak dan banyak banget es batunya ahahahhaha.. Untuk semangkanya manis dan tanpa biji.. mantapp!!
