This was my second visit and although the food was still very very good - the service remains appaling! I will start with the pro's: each of the dish we ordered has a delicate taste. There are wide range of dishes which are the typical ones from the East Java province. Spicy as expected but nevertheless; very good.
As for the cons: when my little nephew got carried away and spilled his drink on the table, the waiters seemed to be understanding at first and cleaned it right away. Little that I know, they added the broken glass in the bill when we were paying. As far as international rule goes, the customer is always the king - certainly when he/she didn't deliberately break the dinner ware or glasses. I find it shameful that the lady behind the cashier decided to charge us anyway and won't budge even when I confronted it! With this attitude, you folks don't deserve any point in the service department. The Rp 25000 charge certainly doesn't reflect the cheap glassware that you are using. I do not mind to pay, but this behaviour is disgusting for such a prominent restaurant in Surabaya.
Other than that, the service is slow and unattentive. If you don't wave your hand, the waiters do not even want to serve you.
I think the manager should definitely do something with this flaw in the service. Either doing that or you won't last long with so many competitions in the city. Do not think just because you are popular now, that it will always stay that way. If I were you, I will improve...

Tried quite a few items from the menu: Nasi Timbel Bakar - The rice is wrapped in banana leaf, and then grilled, giving it a smoky flavor. The side dishes include fried chicken, tofu, tempeh, corn fritters and sayur asem (sweet-sour vegetable soup). Each of the side dishes were good — especially the fried chicken with its sweet marinade, the sayur asem with the still-crunchy vegetables, and the corn fritters with its chunky corn pieces.
Tumis Daun Pepaya - The vegetable was stir-fried in a slightly sweet seasoning. The vegetable still retains some texture.
Tumis Ontong Teri - The ontong (banana blossom) is stir-fried with tiny anchovies. The ontong still has some crunch to it and somehow has smoky flavor.
Rawon Buntut - The rawon buntut was quite good. The buntut (ox tail) was relatively tender. Though, for the soup, I would have liked it to be ‘thicker’ in flavor.
Sate Sum Sum - The sumsum (bone marrow) is lightly charred on the outside, soft on the inside. The peanut sauce...
Read moreThis place is visited on July 18th, 2022. It is recommended place to go when you want to have Indonesian fine dining. It was not our first visit here and for this visit we try new menu. It is ayam goreng seribu rasa (fried chicken with rich spices). It was good. The sansekerta platter also nice even it makes you full. So be strategic if you want to dig in this appetizers and combine with the entree. My personal favorite when coming here is the tumis daun pepaya and bunga pepaya (stir-fried papaya leaves and flowers). It is so authentic and delicious.
The place for me is so cozy, good choice of light temperature, good interior design that is successful integrate the modern and so-like collonial design. The tone color is lovely (turquoise). How it mantains the orginal door and window, it also well designed.
The staff is responsive and friendly. The parking lot is enough for both cars and motorcycles. It shares with calibre (the cafe next to this place) parking spot. The toilet also...
