The business owner Pak Chiam, who had previous experience in Malaysia and Singapore made a good choice by setting his eatery in Surabaya, as he did not have to grapple with manpower problems. Last week our group of 16 golfers patronised him again, but this time to a recently opened bigger premise that could accommodate more diners. He did not disappoint, we had Hong Kong styled steam ikan malas(soon hock), all live boiled: prawns, blood clams(chee hum), batik sea snails, lala and dipped into the delicious Malaysia sambal. Also wonderful is the garlic flavoured bamboo clams and black pepper mud crabs and others are belacan kang kong and seafood omelette. Dine here on Saturday, December 28th. The fried rice is delicious—light and perfectly balanced with seafood, petai, and snow peas. The grilled grouper and Padang-style clams are also great, but the highlight was the grilled squid—we even ordered two more servings. The water spinach is also very tasty. For drinks, try the refreshing young coconut juice with orange.

Overall, this is the best meal we've had after visiting two other cities in East Java. And we loved how the food is brought out covered to keep it clean.

Looked for the best seafood restos in Surabaya and wanted to sit down instead of the streetfood stalls. This was unbelievably good.

Had the crab, snapper, and grouper. All grilled with a different sambal sauce. Incredible tastes and nuances. Really good food. Altogether with some drinks, the bill came out to be around $79. That's pretty affordable considering the quality of seafood we had and comparing to more touristy restos in Bali.

The resto was pretty busy so the staff was standard, just take order, deliver food, and bring the bill. No real warmth when arriving or leaving but then again, this isn't a tourist spot. The location is near the downtown area so just a short Grab ride to anywhere you need to go.
