SHAMROCK SURABAYA — Restaurant in Surabaya

Writing this review whilst Sat on a Monday evening. Its half 7, the atmosphere feels a bit like closing time. It's got people here who are eating but feels a bit flat.

I think due to it being relatively new, the staff are a bit on edge, which means guests are a bit as well.

I saw a post previously about smoking, which I totally agree with. Just watched two drinks being made and then someone blow smoke out from a cigarette into the drinks, which is grim. So maybe have a designated smoking area, preferably away from the bar.

Food is good, not blown away, but wouldn't send it back.

Drinks - signature cocktails are just a list of random names with no ingredients, consider making a menu with ingredients otherwise bartenders have to explain each one all the time / patrons will just get bored and order what they know, so what's the point in having them?

Also, there's space to have an amazing back bar, but all it's got is a few syrups. Again, what's the point?

Im going to hang on until a bit later to see if the atmosphere improves, and will edit if it gets better, if not, it means I left and went elsewhere. Its almost a bit...

Had lunch here yesterday. The place was kinf of empty, only 3 tables were occupied. There was some cigarette smell, but not too strong. Understandable as at night it becomes a bar.

We ordered black angus rib eye steak, basil pesto pasta and carnivore pizza. They were okay, but nothing special. In my opinion, rather overpriced for that average taste.

The steak was quite tender and juicy but tasted bland withouth the sauce. We could choose 2 sauces, opted for mushroom & barbecue. The mushroom sauce was bland; the barbecue sauce was better.

The basil pesto pasta was quite good, but the was only a few small pieces of chicken. The pizza was okay, but lacked meat toppings. Only had pepperoni & mushroom. Not the carnivore pizza that we expected.

We ordered coffee for the drinks, cappuccinos & latte. The coffee wasn't strong enough. Tried the chocolate lava cake for dessert. The texture of the cake was okay, but taste wise, not very chocolatey. Overall, the food & drink could have been better for that price range.

Avoid this place at all costs. I experienced the following when I visited on a Saturday night with a group from work. *Long waits for your drinks (20 minutes or more to get a beer) *Incompetent staff who forget parts of orders and don't understand, even if you ask for something in Indonesian and English *Some will get their food, others will wait too long. *Warm beer (staff refused to take it away and bring me a cold one) *Staff who run away when you ask for the bill. *Extra items charged to bills *Staff who will try to bill you after the bill has been paid *A manager who should be allowed nowhere near the hospitality industry - when told of all the problems he just laughed and said sorry. Even though this bar is a five-minute drive from where I live, I left within 45 minutes of arriving to another bar on the other side of town with decent service.
