Olatu Beach Restaurant, located on the beautiful Gili Air island, offers a delightful dining experience right by the ocean. The restaurant boasts a chic and peaceful ambiance, making it an ideal spot for both daytime and sunset dining.
The menu is diverse, featuring a mix of French, Mediterranean, Asian, and Indonesian dishes. Highlights included fresh grilled fish, tuna tartare, and an excellent barbecue accompanied by an unlimited cold buffet with options like grilled eggplant, pasta salad, and vegetables
The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. The chef visited our table to explain her cuisine, adding a personal touch to the service. Higgis ( I think that was his name) was a wonderful host.
The restaurant's beachfront location provides stunning views, especially during sunset. The setting is clean, well-lit, and beautifully decorated, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Some wonderful chilled out music enhanced the feel of the restaurant

Read moreWe were two families, 4 adults and two teenagers, and rented bikes to explore the island. That's how we discovered this beachfront restaurant and its owner, Pascal, a friendly Frenchman who has been living in Indonesia for 30 years. It was magnificent, and most of the cocktails were good, but the service was slow, which is common in the region. For dinner, we moved to the restaurant area, still on the beach. The menu is interesting, but we took advantage of his outdoor BBQ stand. We chose our fresh fish, seafood, and meats and paid by weight. Then everything was grilled outside. A salad bar is included. It was not only delicious but also uniquely presented. Definitely a must-visit for the sunset and...
Read moreFrom noon onwards, the tide is so low that you can’t swim in the ocean. We asked if we could use the pool if we paid for lunch/drinks at the beach, and were told yes. After having lunch, when we wanted to swim, a different staff member said the pool was only for hotel guests. Fair enough, but they should have told us the truth from the beginning, so we could’ve picked another place. It’s not nice to lure guests under false pretenses. We decided to pay and leave and they suddenly said the card machine wasn’t working, then that the wifi was down, then there’s no electricity… so cash only. When we suggested to pay in the hotel, they refused, until a new staff member finally said it was fine. Also, the bathroom in the restaurant was very dirty… not a pleasant experience. I hope...
