When you have a nice place and maybe some good items and in return you have completely unprofessional employees then you have nothing here at all. Why are the employees not trained to speak politely? Why raise your voice? I hear you, I don’t need you to raise your voice. This is what happened with the employee who wears the hijab. Also, when I order shakshouka and it is written in the menu that it needs 20 minutes, and the employee comes and tells me that it needs 40 minutes. Is the employee lying or is the menu full of incorrect information? When you bring young employees, you must train them on how to deal with others, especially tourists and the elderly. I understand that all employees did not receive the same upbringing in dealing with others, so you must be careful to choose what is appropriate for a place like this. For me, after what I experienced, if the food was offered for free, I would not go again, even though I visited the island 12 times, and many here know me. What happened was on July 30 at 7:30 in...
Read moreThe Banyan Tree restaurant on Gili Trawangan Island offers three seating areas - beachfront, indoor (AC), and rooftop outdoor. While the rooftop area has a romantic ambiance with flameless candles and dim lighting, we opted for the more chilled-out atmosphere of the beachfront. This vegetarian restaurant also has several vegan options, and we were impressed with the quality of the food. The buffalo cauliflower was super crispy, extra large, and paired perfectly with the delicious cheesy dip. The Malaysian Laksa soup was also a hit, with plenty of tofu and a spiced coconut curry, it was a bit too heavy for one person though. We enjoyed our meal with a slice of chocolate cake (vegan) and a special vegan pie (whose name I can't remember), both of which were delicious. We paired our meal with chilled Bintang Crystal beer and the soothing sounds of waves crashing against the shore. The service was quick, and the items were appropriately priced. Overall, The Banyan Tree is a great restaurant, and I highly...
Read moreWe ordered a cappuccino, a matcha, a toast with avocado and poached egg, and a bowl of cereal. We waited 45 minutes before someone came to take our order, only because we insisted that someone come. Meanwhile, people who arrived after us were served. After 40 minutes, we received the toast, but 15 minutes later, we had to point out that we still hadn’t received our drinks and our bowl of cereal.
We finally received our drinks 15 minutes later. The matcha was undrinkable; it’s the first time I couldn’t drink a cup of matcha. 15 minutes later, we finally received our bowl of cereal. The organization was terrible, no one checked if we needed anything. A waitress told us she would be right with us, but she served people right in front of us and then went to the other side without coming back to take our order, even though she had just said she would be right back.
It’s really a shame that it is so disorganized. They ruined our morning. We arrived at 10:00 AM and left at 12:00 PM, which is simply...
