Warung Dewi — Restaurant in West Nusa Tenggara

The food here was really good and we went twice in the one day for almost the same food. Between the 2 of us, we ordered the rendang 4 times. We’d been trying rendang in Malaysia and in Bali – and even some of the more expensive restaurants we tried it at didn't deliver anything I was happy with and I had just about given up ever finding a decent serve of this dish until we tried it at Warung Dewi. I wasn't expecting much due to previous disappointments but was pleasantly surprised with its rich, thick gravy and the meat cooked till tender (many restaurants serve a tough meat). Note that it is not beef but goat, which is the traditional meat used. The side dishes like corn fritters, bergedil (perkedil) were also very good. The curried chicken was also very tasty and worth trying. I did however find the fried tempeh not as crunchy as others I’ve tried (perhaps it sat around too long by evening). The best part of the meal is the price. Our 4 meals ranged between 20 and 35K each (the more expensive one was a result of ordering 2 different meats). On average, 1 meat, 2 to 3 sides and rice should set you back about 25K.

The warung is tucked away behind the vegetable market - not immediately visible and easy to miss, but Google maps did a great job...

Visited this Warung for dinner in search for an authentic Nasi Campur. This is exactly what we encountered at Warung Dewi and we were initially delighted with the range of dishes available. The richness of Indonesian flavours were a delight, made with the love and attention of a kind lady both cooking and serving the food.

As much as I would love to leave a good review here, our experience was quickly tarnished by violent illness resulting from the obvious lack of hygiene practices in the kitchen. Never have the three of us who ate here suffered worse bouts of diarrhoea in the ensuing days. As I write this a full week later, we are still recovering from the food poisoning we undoubtedly caught from Warung Dewi.

It is not without regret that I warn you against visiting this local Warung fearing the consequences for the sweet lady running the place. However, it is simply dangerous to be serving food with such a severe disregard for...

I came here after seeing the reviews about how cheap and good this warung was . True story OCTOBER 2024 is that if you are looking for very very cheap place , this is NOT the option . The prices are average and same or even more expensive that other warungs around. The food tastes good but the sizes are small and I payed for nasi campur normal size 50k . Other warungs have it for 35/39k and have better facilities. Here everything is in cabinet so you don’t know for how long it was there . Risk of potential bacteria growing after many hours with not heating source . They don’t speak English at all and i didn’t have the feeling to being welcome in that place. I had the feeling they were not nice as other staff around. So again , if you are coming here thinking you gonna pay 25/30k this is...
