Bu Narti Super Spicy Meal — Restaurant in Yogyakarta

oseng-oseng mercon has become a popular culinary of Yogyakarta. Started to run the foodstall in 1998, during when the country was experiencing economic crisis, Mrs Narti was trying to earn for her living after her husband passed away. Today, the culinary has been renowned to even outer cities, attracting passersby to give it a try.

It is not for no reason that the culinary is named mercon or firecracker. Eating the food will feel as if the packed ammunition commonly used during Chinese New Year and Eid al-Fitr celebration explodes inside our mouth. Just like fearless soldiers delivering bombs to the enemy's fort, Mrs Narti's oseng-oseng will destroy you into pieces. Your eyes will bug out, your breath becomes hard and your tongue turns hot until you get yourself sweating heavily.

This was the worst meal I ate during my trip back in November 2023 when I visisted Jogja. It is also probably the worst food I’ve ever eaten during traveling in my whole life lol.

I like to eat koyor, but a lot served here can’t be chewed. The spice is sweet and not spicy at all, does not reflect the essense of the name ‘mercon’. You might be curious to try but there are so many other restaurants and food that you can try in Jogja, so instead of wasting your calories quota and money here just go visit other places.

It cost Rp115.000 for 3 (three) servings of rice, oseng koyor, and 3 fried tofu. Way too overpriced for what we get. The place is not even clean and the service is meh. If I could go back in time and visit myself in the past, I would smack myself for eating whatever...

OVERPRICED!! beware of the addons!! they will drain your money like a browser addons draining your ram... they charged 15k for a fried catfish without rice and drink, which is waaaayyy too overpriced, u can get a catfish, with rice and drinks for 13k at any lamongan street food stall.. me and my friends ate 4 oseng mercon, with some addons (2 catfish, 1 chicken liver, 1 fried chicked head) 5 drinks, for a total of 180k.
