Hard Boiled Egg Cafe — Restaurant in Cavan-Belturbet Municipal District

Went to go in for breakfast with my pregnant wife and daughter and were told they would get a table ready for us as there wasnt a table available straight away. We were asked to move away from the front door and till and move down out of way and when we did so we were then told very loudly by another member of staff to go back up to the front door and wait there to which we then left as i wasnt going to have my pregnant wife being pushed into by people trying to leave the building. (16th december 2023 @ 11:30am) I Find from all your 1 star reviews your business manor is not professional atal i was mearly making a true statement, if we where made aware there was seating outside we would have gladly sat there no issues whats so ever an apology would have been simple and we would have removed all. As the member of staff dealing with us in the beginning was lovely but its the issue with the other member of staff . I have been to the hard boiled egg a few times now and have to say I thoroughly enjoy it. I usually get a chicken dinner, which is always lovely, and the odd times get the pancakes.

I was always happy with the portion sizes, especially the pancakes, but over the last few times, the pancakes have got smaller and smaller but still remain the same price 10.99, I think?

I will upload a picture of the Pancakes they use to sell and the quality now. they are less than half the size they were. It is very disappointing, as part of dining is also about value for money. I don't know if I will order the pancakes again or even come back as I don't like to be ripped off.

Just so everyone can see the size comparison, I put the fork on top of it to show how small it is.

This may sound very over exagerative, but when you see the picture, you will understand.

I would love to see the pancakes go back to their original sides because as I said at the start I thoroughly enjoy the hard boiled egg but for the cost of the Pancakes I could make...

I visited this café on 13th October 2025 for breakfast and ordered French Toast and a cappuccino. Unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. The French Toast wasn’t prepared properly and didn’t resemble authentic French Toast. At €15, it was overpriced considering the quality and taste. The cappuccino cost €4.50, bringing the total bill to around €20 — which is far too much for what I received. The cappuccino itself was also disappointing; as a cappuccino lover, I can confidently say it wasn’t a proper cappuccino.

Overall, I was not happy with their breakfast, especially since French Toast and cappuccinos are two of my favourites and I’ve tried them at many other places, so I have a good basis for comparison.

Also, I had requested no bacon in the toast. While the staff didn’t add bacon, there was a strange layer at the bottom of each toast. They explained it was just a layer of eggs from the pan, but it looked as if it had been scraped off unevenly, which felt suspicious...
