We had lunch in "5 Points" today. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere. It is part of the Victorian Quarter of Cork. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is absolutely amazing and incredible value. We had the Toasted Special, the Vegan Flatbread and the Brekkie "Bacon and egg. " We were all delighted with the food which is prepared with fresh ingredients. The coffee was also spot on. We were all given a complimentary packet of crisps with our orders. We also bought some cakes to go. We are all looking forward to our next visit.

Great coffee and breakfast spot close to the train station. The bagels are decent, options of plain, poppyseed, multiseed, or salted. Definitely wouldn’t consider it to be a “New York Bagel”. A bacon, egg, and cheese bagel ended up costing €10. Everything is run very smoothly, you’re assigned to a table after you order. There’s plenty of seating inside, a few tables at the front, and covered tables at the back as well. Will definitely be back on our next trip to Cork!

Needed quick service while we waited for the bus. We were in a hurry so misunderstood that flat bread is really like a toasted veggie sandwich with hummus. It was a good surprise. Make sure you specify you need a bag to walk with your food to the bus because they didn't understand we asked for it to be wrapped. They were reasonably quick and very kind and the food and atmosphere was great. Family friendly as well and decent prices. The restroom amused us!

FORCED TO SIT OUTSIDE IN THE COLD!

I was previously a huge fan of 5 Points & their services etc. But last week I headed in right after the gym to grab a quick sandwich and coffee. The place was jammed as usual, so obviously I knew the service would be slower and tables were limited. I advised, “I would sit outside but if I spot a table I will take it due to how cold it is.” The server/cashier said, “No problem at all.”

Immediately behind me, a table became available literally in front of the till. The lady serving noticed and brought my coffee to where I sat inside. I advised her to tell the waiter I had found a seat and would remain there as the dogs in the street knew it was Baltic outside. She acknowledged and said she would advise the servers bringing food. No issues so far, clear communication on both sides obviously.

This lad, with a pathetic attempt at growing a moustache and wearing GAA shorts, came over after I had already been waiting 20+ minutes for a poxy sandwich and said, “Could this couple share the table with you?” — three strangers I’d never met in my life. I said, “Could I just get my sandwich, and while they’re waiting I’ll have it finished immediately?” At this point I honestly just wanted my food and to go.

This young fella turns around and says, “Well, you did say you’d sit outside,” while looking at me with a dumb look as if my money wasn’t good enough. The couple then said, “Honestly, we are ok, we don’t mind waiting.” I noticed they were with an elderly woman, so I promptly stood up and said, “No, no, take my table, there’s only one of me.” Regardless of the situation, they would have gotten my seat. I have manners and morals when it comes to anybody older than me.

The one thing that bothered me was that smart comment by this kid, so strange and unnecessary. After 25 minutes of waiting for food, and more or less being told to get out of my seat, I then sat outside in genuinely freezing weather. Finally, after altogether 30 minutes of waiting, the food came. By this time I wasn’t hungry or even in the humour after that comment by this fella five or six years younger than me.

If there’s any advice to take away from this: some customer satisfaction training should be held weekly if you know how busy and hectic this place can be. End of the day, the customer is right to a degree, all we want is decent service and a good meal. Gain some professionalism in the establishment, these lost looking 20 somethings in GAA shorts and mullets with an attitude will never scale...

Went for breakfast the other day and there was a-bit of a queue, no biggie. Two ladies behind us didn’t know of the seating allocation and tried to sit at a free table, staff worker quite rudely informed them and was very harsh about it for no reason. After ordering, our 3 person group got allocated to a 2 person table with a stool added on, I needed a chair with a back so tried to ask a member of staff but couldn’t get their attention. Swapped stool for chair at empty table beside us and the same staff member as mentioned above quickly came over and placed her hands on my chair as I was sitting on it and aggressively tried to move me. I tried to explain the situation (needed a chair with a back as I have back problems) and she was extremely rude to me, telling me that the (empty) table needed 2 seats so I tried to ask if we could also have that table as we were 3 people on a 2 person table and she was still just very harsh and wouldn’t let me speak. I relented because I had no choice but it really put a damper on the whole experience and if we hadn’t of already paid, we would have left.

Food arrived and it was also very disappointing. My friend got a side order of hash-browns which were soggy and her bagel was subpar, as was mine. I also ordered a multiseed but got plain which I wouldn’t usually nitpick on but after the situation, I was abit down. I must say though that the coffee was lovely (as was the male staff member that dropped it over to us!)

However, the female staff member we dealt with mentioned above really needs to check her manners. I understand that customer service can suck at times (I work in the same field) but you shouldn’t put your hands on a customer or behave like that. All round just a shame as it could be a lovely establishment but multiple people have since told me about dealing with rude staff here so it seems to be a...

Lashing rain and went in here with three kids and my wife. All under 5 and and one of them is a new born. Wife had to bring one child straight to the toilet. Free table at the window so I grabbed it with the other two. Five minutes later my wife was queueing up and blonde server came up giving out to us that we were not allowed to sit down until we ordered the food. She said it aggressively and started pointing to signs. I understand they may have rules but never met a waitress like this. Go to beantown in bishopstown at least three times a week and is five stars. How they let a waitress like this ruin their reputation is beyond me. This was about six months ago and still bothering me. We didn’t even order food after this. You could even see the other people working there thought she was a disgrace. Such a shame as would give all the other businesses Linked to the...
