FORCED TO SIT OUTSIDE IN THE COLD!
I was previously a huge fan of 5 Points & their services etc. But last week I headed in right after the gym to grab a quick sandwich and coffee. The place was jammed as usual, so obviously I knew the service would be slower and tables were limited. I advised, âI would sit outside but if I spot a table I will take it due to how cold it is.â The server/cashier said, âNo problem at all.â
Immediately behind me, a table became available literally in front of the till. The lady serving noticed and brought my coffee to where I sat inside. I advised her to tell the waiter I had found a seat and would remain there as the dogs in the street knew it was Baltic outside. She acknowledged and said she would advise the servers bringing food. No issues so far, clear communication on both sides obviously.
This lad, with a pathetic attempt at growing a moustache and wearing GAA shorts, came over after I had already been waiting 20+ minutes for a poxy sandwich and said, âCould this couple share the table with you?â â three strangers Iâd never met in my life. I said, âCould I just get my sandwich, and while theyâre waiting Iâll have it finished immediately?â At this point I honestly just wanted my food and to go.
This young fella turns around and says, âWell, you did say youâd sit outside,â while looking at me with a dumb look as if my money wasnât good enough. The couple then said, âHonestly, we are ok, we donât mind waiting.â I noticed they were with an elderly woman, so I promptly stood up and said, âNo, no, take my table, thereâs only one of me.â Regardless of the situation, they would have gotten my seat. I have manners and morals when it comes to anybody older than me.
The one thing that bothered me was that smart comment by this kid, so strange and unnecessary. After 25 minutes of waiting for food, and more or less being told to get out of my seat, I then sat outside in genuinely freezing weather. Finally, after altogether 30 minutes of waiting, the food came. By this time I wasnât hungry or even in the humour after that comment by this fella five or six years younger than me.
If thereâs any advice to take away from this: some customer satisfaction training should be held weekly if you know how busy and hectic this place can be. End of the day, the customer is right to a degree, all we want is decent service and a good meal. Gain some professionalism in the establishment, these lost looking 20 somethings in GAA shorts and mullets with an attitude will never scale...
Read moreWent for breakfast the other day and there was a-bit of a queue, no biggie. Two ladies behind us didnât know of the seating allocation and tried to sit at a free table, staff worker quite rudely informed them and was very harsh about it for no reason. After ordering, our 3 person group got allocated to a 2 person table with a stool added on, I needed a chair with a back so tried to ask a member of staff but couldnât get their attention. Swapped stool for chair at empty table beside us and the same staff member as mentioned above quickly came over and placed her hands on my chair as I was sitting on it and aggressively tried to move me. I tried to explain the situation (needed a chair with a back as I have back problems) and she was extremely rude to me, telling me that the (empty) table needed 2 seats so I tried to ask if we could also have that table as we were 3 people on a 2 person table and she was still just very harsh and wouldnât let me speak. I relented because I had no choice but it really put a damper on the whole experience and if we hadnât of already paid, we would have left.
Food arrived and it was also very disappointing. My friend got a side order of hash-browns which were soggy and her bagel was subpar, as was mine. I also ordered a multiseed but got plain which I wouldnât usually nitpick on but after the situation, I was abit down. I must say though that the coffee was lovely (as was the male staff member that dropped it over to us!)
However, the female staff member we dealt with mentioned above really needs to check her manners. I understand that customer service can suck at times (I work in the same field) but you shouldnât put your hands on a customer or behave like that. All round just a shame as it could be a lovely establishment but multiple people have since told me about dealing with rude staff here so it seems to be a...
Read moreLashing rain and went in here with three kids and my wife. All under 5 and and one of them is a new born. Wife had to bring one child straight to the toilet. Free table at the window so I grabbed it with the other two. Five minutes later my wife was queueing up and blonde server came up giving out to us that we were not allowed to sit down until we ordered the food. She said it aggressively and started pointing to signs. I understand they may have rules but never met a waitress like this. Go to beantown in bishopstown at least three times a week and is five stars. How they let a waitress like this ruin their reputation is beyond me. This was about six months ago and still bothering me. We didnât even order food after this. You could even see the other people working there thought she was a disgrace. Such a shame as would give all the other businesses Linked to the...
