We are visiting this restaurant often since 2015 and we tend to recommend this place to everyone we met and we work in positions where we interact with hundrends of people everyday and we are members of a large community of people as well.
We live far away from this area and we need to drive almost 1 hour to get there.
Well, we booked a table by the window overlookimg the Lough and they said that they will do their best for it. Here I would like to note that since 2015 we have only sat twice by the window overlooking the Lough and we have been there more than 50 times. The staff is in general not so polite but we liked the food there so we were just going for the food even if we didnt have the view. The previous times we booked again a table by the window for 4 people and when we arrived (10 minutes earlier) there wasnt any empty, we seated upstairs again in a corner. Yesterday, we arrived 20 minutes earlier and asked for our booking, the waiter asked us 5 times if we were sure that our name was that and that we had a booking... We answered that yes, we booked for this specific time and table under this name...
We seated finally by the window!
After 1 minute the waiter came and asked if we are sure for the name and maybe we werent the ones who booked this table... How are we suppose to know if the booking on your books was taken down correctly? He had another booking for 10 minutes before the time we arrived without name and he was asking if we were sure that this wasnt our booking... Come on, really?
He had our name and booking time correctly but for some reason he didnt want us to sit there and was trying to find ways to make us stand up and sit elsewhere...
5 minutes later when we were about to order, he came again and asked us to stand up as the table was booked for others (probably the people who didnt leave a name and were meant to arrive before our booking), on top of that we had the lady who supposed had a booking as well, trying to make us leave as she booked this specific table and she needs it straight away.. The person in charge was asking sorry from her but he didnt care to apologise for our hassle and frustration... We ofcourse stand up, he said with a bad attitude "Your table is there" it was the same table upstairs without views... We said that we no more want to eat and left with the worst experience ever...
We wont be going back to Royal Palace EVER, and ofcourse we will share our experience with everyone we know and we will meet from now on as this was the top of the iceberg!
Luckily, we went to Cork City and found an even better Asian Restaurant in Princess Street with excellent food and the staff in there is so assistive and polite that we will make this place our favourite from now on!

Read moreHalf of our order arrived. Rang immediately and the customer service was rude from the beginning. Felt unheard and completely unlistened to. We are regular customers and had no reason to lie but had to repeat over and over again that half our stuff was missing and it got completely out of hand when it could have been resolved. We got the person on the phone to list out the items ordered and then we listed the items we didn’t receive and instead of apologising and offering a refund or replacement, we were not believed. We were also feeding a family of 7 and paid a lot of money and it was the principal of it more so than the money . Would never deal with them again and I hope they learn that instead of getting on the defence and giving attitude they should actually listen and give the benefit of the doubt. Shame 0 stars isn’t an option because in this case 1 star...

Tonight we put in our order online that totaled to 70 euro money was taken and a text then received saying they were too busy and rejected the order and would have to wait 3-5 working days for the money to come back in. As I live close by I went down to see if they could just put the order in or give me my money back straight away as something else would have to be ordered and 70 euro is a lot of money. The manager spoke with me and was very rude and had no solution for me at all. I told him that money shouldn’t have been taken and if they’re too busy the online service should not be running.
