I have been a customer of rouses many times over the years but I had really bad experience here tonight. I arrived here alone and was waiting for friends to arrive out in the back area when the bar lady came out and asked me “if I was ok” to which I replied I was and that I was waiting for friends to arrive to meet me. I probably had been here about 5 minutes at this point. I asked her if there was a problem and she basically said I cant just stay here like this (I am assuming without a drink?). I felt very unwelcome and promptly left. Look Im a 31 year old woman and this is not how I expect to be treated in a pub within 5 minutes of arriving just because I am alone. Would be really hesitant to recommend for anyone coming in alone in a similar...
Read moreAn absolute gem. Walked in on a very quiet sunday night to my delight of wonderful clean cold quinness as crisp as snow in a mountain glade. Barman was a gem. A reall peoples man who spun some stories of local history and was very easy to engage with. A few locals where there and as im a dublin man, i was expecting a bit of a stand off.. but welcomed with open arms and i enjoyed the banter... this pub was like a pub from my days.. 80s and 90s a true gem diamond.. If you get a chance of a day or two off visit this place. This type of pub is dying out and must be preservered at all costs.. the guinnes is tops. A...

Pat the owner/bartender was very pleasant and personable, as we're all the friendly people I encountered there. This is a quiet but friendly bar and was perfect for my travel companion (who grew up up the street) and myself to sit at a table for personal discussions or at the bar to meet new folks. Weather did not permit, but there was an outside beer garden too! While visiting one evening, the back room broke out in Irish singing.. loved it. They do...
