China Garden — Restaurant in County Westmeath

We had one night in Mullingar , and stumbled upon this restaurant. The warning signs were there when we walked in, as it was quiet and only small portion of tables were set. But I took the view many Chinese restaurants taste similar and generally nice . We were offered A la Carte , or, for a little more than the price of 1 main meal, rice drink etc , an all you can eat. All I can say is it was the worst Chinese Food I have ever had. The chicken curry was literally curry sauce and chicken lumps, the Cantonese duck was a few pieces of duck , with a cashew nut (s) with soy sauce , I could go on, but I’m still shocked by what I was presented with. The waiter , nice Irish guy was the only person we saw in the entire restaurant and was attentive but we could tell he was embarrassed to serve the food and give us the bill. I should have walked out , I should have refused to pay , but I didn’t want to embarrass the lad. I cannot believe this place continues to exist and I SHOULD HAVE READ THE REVIEWs before I set foot in this “restaurant” Never Again and ruined my experience...

I spent a ridiculous amount of money on what has been the worst spice bag in the world. I can't express how poorly made the food was. First of all, the food came extremely late after almost an hour but we ordered a large quantity so that is somewhat justifiable (about 9-11).

The spice bag had little to no seasoning at all and it tasted bland. There was no spice to it at all(the irony) and it didn't even appear to have salt. The chicken was very hard and underseasoned too.

All in all I was extremely disappointed and angry with the food I got and in turn the money that I wasted. My reccomendstion is dont order a spice bag from this place unless you like horrible...

Do NOT come here. This place is a disaster! I ordered a takeaway from this place a few days back, and to be honest, I really wish I hadn’t. The food was incredibly disappointing bland, greasy, and clearly not cooked properly. One of the dishes was clearly underdone and made me feel really sick later that night I ended up being unwell the whole of the next day. For the price I paid, it was a complete waste of money. I’m honestly surprised this place is still open, health inspectors seriously need to take a look. I won’t be ordering from here again, and I’d strongly advise others to steer well clear. There are way better and safer...
