A table for 14 people was booked for my friends 30th birthday party a month in advance for 8 o'clock. Upon arrival we were told that the table is not ready and we were asked if we could wait in the lobby and have a drink there until the table was ready. We were told that this would take no longer than a couple of minutes as it was busy. We all finished our drink. However, the table was still not ready. We were hungry as it was now 8:40 and the group at our table was still finishing up their drinks. I asked the manager how much longer until we would be seated at our table. The manager was extremely rude and said that he had already discussed this with my friend who seemingly said that this delay was okay. This was not the case. The manager then said that he will discuss this with the person who booked the table which was my friend. I asked him not to do that as I did not want to ruin her night any further. Despite this, he confronted my friend about this and made a scene. I am a regular customer at Dead Centre Brewing, the service and food are always excellent. However, I was very disappointed by this experience. By the time we got our food it was approximately 9:30. I understand that it was busy however, I believe that a regular customer should be treated with more respect, especially when their table is delayed by an hour. The food was very good once it had arrived as well as the drinks.
Hi Liam,
Thank you for your reply. I appreciate the explanation of your version of events however, that was not my experience on the night. I have shared good reviews about dead center on many occasions both on social media and in conversion to many people. I am disappointed that you would believe that I would post this review if it was not true and I stand by my opinion on the quality of food, hence why we returned. My reviews are always very honest and I like to give second chances. However, after reading your reply, I will most certainly take your advice on board and dine elsewhere in the...
Read moreWe went here on Friday night for the first time and really wanted it to be good as we had heard good things and want a local business to succeed, especially during the pandemic but unfortunately, the experience was way below our expectations. We had to wait 15 minutes past our booking time to be seated which set the tone a bit and were then asked what we would like to drink whilst not been given a drinks menu/visibility of the drinks list. In a craft pub there is always so much to choose from so we thought this was a bit off, our first time there and we had no idea what was on offer. Then, when the boys got their drinks - the Guinness was the worst pint poured ever, my dad was really close to sending it back but chose to leave it as we had already waited ages. My boyfriend said the stout tasted like metal. Disappointing. Food arrived in a timely manner which was great but the plastic cutlery and paper plates was the next thing, we understood theyre doing their best with what they have during Covid but its such a wasteful option and really brought down the quality of the experience. The empty glasses continued to pile up on the bar beside us too, making it clear they dont have a dish washer in our opinion. Food was fine, not amazing. The staff took so long to take our trays away, forgetting half way through clearing our table and we had to call them, back a while later to finish the job. Then trying to pay the bill took an age too. Now, the staff were great - such nice, positive, energetic people but it was just clear to us they were all over the place and there was no set structure on how to cover the busy bar. The place is so close to getting it right but we just felt if they can fine tune their service a bit better and perhaps look at a less wasteful, low quality option for serving the food (plates and cutlery), it would be a much better experience. Unfortunately for us though, from our night on Friday we wont be...
Read moreTo start with interior of place, it's very modern, clean and nice to spend dinner there. Tables are spread around enough to be able to have comfortable atmosphere while eating.
There was live music tonight what was very nice add on to our dinner there.
Service was good, fast delivery of drinks and food.
Pizza was delicious and probably my second favourite from now in Athlone Town.
Loaded fries with garlic mayo, parmezan cheese and sausages wasn't my favourite and I wouldn't order it again.
Chicken wings were bit dry and not the best texture while chewing. In sauce for wings was very strong taste of vinegar that I didn't like at all.
Hotdog was completely something different then we thought we will receive. It wasn't presentable or eatable in that small basket that was served. Sausage is just to big and its impossible to mix all the ingredients at the same time to eat it. In general it was good but proportion of the food was badly planned and its not enjoyable to eat.
From all the food above I would come back for pizza and to try beer as this time I had Irish coffee what I had to say was very very strong coffee (alcohol strong).
So in taking consideration of everything I had to be realistic and score it as 3/5 but definitely would and will come back in summer to sit down for beer, pizza and view on the...
