My husband and I chose Thyme Restaurant in Athlone for a romantic dinner to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and the entire experience was truly special from start to finish.
From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed warmly, setting the tone for an unforgettable evening. The ambiance was perfect for a romantic celebration, with tasteful decor and a cozy atmosphere.
The food was of the highest standard. Each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. We were particularly impressed with the portion sizes, which were generous enough to leave us feeling very satisfied by the end of our meal.
The service was both friendly and professional. The staff went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed, adding to the overall excellence of the evening. Their attention to detail and genuine hospitality made our anniversary dinner all the more memorable.
We will definitely be returning to Thyme Restaurant very soon. For anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience in Athlone, I highly recommend this gem...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy first experience at a Michelin recommended restaurant and it did not disappoint. My wife and I both got the value menu. We didnāt plan to, but the items looked better to our tastes. The value menu is convenient for couples because there are essentially two options per category. We simply chose opposite options and shared everything, getting the chance to try all but 1 fish, the vegetarian main course, on the value menu.

The main courses we were served were lamb and hake, with sides. Everything was delicious. The lamb breast confit with wild garlic butter is among the two best things I have ever tasted, alongside a Beef Wellington I had years ago. My wife will forever tease me about the audible noise I made when I took my bite.
Dinner finished with tasty desserts and flat whites. A wonderful...

All 4 of us had a consensus that the portions we're a bit too small and mom ended up making food at home 2 hours after the meal.
While 2 of us did enjoy what we we're offered, the other 2 members of the party we're disappointed. I think the general consensus was that we would not return as we couldn't find value in what was...
