I love Eddie Rockets. My wife and I have been to many different Eddies around the country and would rate them as one of the best in the land. We were last in this branch 3 yrs ago and our meal that day was excellent. But the meal we had last night was far far away from that experience. We were seated straight away and after taking the order our burgers arrived in reasonable time. Unfortunately the menu seems to have changed recently and the clonakilty burger was missing. But my wife was happy the smoke stack was still available. I opted to go for the make your own option but after everything was chosen the burger seemed to cost €17 which I only realised after the bill arrived. When my burger arrived my own version of the clonakilty burger (see photo) I was happy enough but to be honest we both thought the rashers were way to thick nearly like gammon steaks on both burgers also the smashed clonakilty pudding was a small piece placed on top not smashed in to a pattie as advertised. You pay €1.85 for this small piece that would cost 50c in a deli not happy at gross overcharging. My wife's smoke stack had the same issue with the bacon. The chips were way over cooked, no seasoning and the whole experience was bit more costly than usual. This experience won't stop us revisiting Eddie Rockets but this branch I might avoid. Over all it's 3 stars so want to give 5 but not...
Read moreEddie Rockets is everywhere in Dublin for some reason, there's at least one in every suburb, so I knew I had to try it whilst I was still living here. I really wanted to eat in, as the decor is surely the main appeal and this branch is my local and looks cute and compact. But as we're in lockdown again I had to order takeaway.
Takeaway is nicely packaged and everything comes in recyclable boxes. I was pleasantly surprised with the food. The cheese burgers were old school American with thin and crispy beef patties (much nicer than thick ones that are left pink in the middle imo.) The toppings were plentiful and they definitely didn't skimp on the pickles, which is a massive win for me. Sweet potato fries were tasty and a big portion. Chicken tenders were maybe the only disappointment; probably frozen and had been left in the fryer a bit too long. Food was lukewarm but that's really deliveroos fault. I can definitely see myself visiting again for...
Read moreWe entered at 22:14 having landed shortly before and arriving at our hotel and then walking to Eddie Rocket's because it said it was open, and indeed it was. However, when we went in we were told by the 'hostess' that it was take-away only. Not a brilliant first impression of Dublin hospitality.
The food may or may not be good, we will never find out because we absolutely will not ever eat in one of these establishments after tonight. There was no need to turn us away. It's not as if the food takes longer to cook if you sit in and eat, and there were other customers there eating at booths.
If they stop cooking at a certain time maybe they could display this on their Google page, to prevent other people being disappointed in a similar manner. After all, we got there at a time when the restaurant was open and there were other people waiting for their...
