Unbelievably disappointed with this place. Explained to the waitress I have a severe shellfish allergy. She came back a few moments later and wanted to double check that I ordered the chowder. I explained I absolutely did not as again, I am severely allergic to shellfish. I had ordered the chicken wings and the “VEGAN” Frickles. She came back with our drinks and I’ve already lost trust in the communication at this point. I wanted to double check the wings were not cooked in with the same oil as the shellfish, she replied yes they are so nonchalantly. I then asked about the freckles and yes they are COOKED IN THE SAME FRYER AS ALL THE MEAT AND FISH. I called the manager to just confirm again there has been no communication break down and the manager also confirmed they have a small kitchen so therefore everything is cooked in the one fryer.
It’s quite shocking that the waitress knowingly let me order food that is being cooked in with shellfish after I stated I will go into anaphylactic shock but also admitting that the “vegan” option is not in fact vegan at all?! It was like trying to get blood from a stone.
There is an extremely high possibility you will have some poor soul come in with another type of severe allergy, the staff not giving a rats ass, and then having someone go into anaphylactic shock in your establishment.
Educate your staff on the severity of allergies and the serious outcomes...
Read moreFood was really good but our experience was let down by really poor service. When we were sat it took a very long time for our order to be taken. When it was finally taken it was by a very rude Australian woman. We ordered a starter to share and mains. When the food arrived it was only our mains and when she dropped them she immediately turned around and left without asking if we needed anything else. We were left quite confused about the situation with the starters and had to flag down another waitress to ask about it as our waitress was nowhere to be seen. We were not met with an apology as if it was our mistake. While eating our mains we weren’t checked on once and had empty glasses of water for the entire duration of our meal. When we finished we had to ask again for someone to clear our plates, after this our waitress finally came with the starter we ordered and just dropped it on the table without saying a word and walked off. We then had to flag someone again to get cutlery. It then took a very long time for the starter to be cleared. Honestly the worst customer service I’ve ever had while dining out, our waitress and the other waitress working were the worst I’ve ever experienced, extremely rude and dismissive. Such a shame too as the food...
Read moreThe Bridge 1859 in Ballsbridge is one of Dublin’s great pubs, striking the perfect balance between a lively atmosphere and quality dining. The vibe is warm and welcoming, yet vibrant enough to make it a fun spot whether you’re grabbing dinner with friends or catching a match.
The service is consistently excellent — friendly, attentive, and professional. The food goes well beyond standard pub fare, with highlights like wings, chowder, fish & chips, hearty burgers, and more refined dishes such as pan-roasted hake. Portions are generous and the value is solid for the quality and the location.
Drinks are also a big plus, with fresh tank beer on tap and a good cocktail selection. On busy days, especially when there’s a big game, it can get crowded and the wait for food may be longer, but the atmosphere makes up for it.
Overall, The Bridge 1859 is a spot I’d happily return to: great food, excellent service, and one of the best pub...
