This used to be a great hotel.
I booked the tower suite for the middle of last week. I was contacted the morning if my arrival and told that due to a "hydraulic problem" my room wouldn't be available and for a discount if €20 I would be downgraded to a superior room.
Firstly, I think the hydraulic problem was simply lies. They had double booked the room and used it as an excuse to get me out. Indeed, they offered me the same room the following night. If there was some problem with the water then how could they guarantee availability the following night. Simply the situation stunk.
Moving on, the room they offered was simply standard. A lesser room was always going to be less and at €20 it was simply insulting. After arguing, they increased the discount to €60 and included a bottle of wine (which was cheap house wine).
Frankly the room provided was certainly worth a lot less than I ended up paying. A complete insult.
In relation to the hotel, there are obvious signs of neglect everywhere. Chipped paint, glue from sellotape on doors. Indeed the underside of the stair rail has bever been cleaned in years.
Bewleys hotel was once great. A jewel of the Dublin hotelier industry. It has lost that now with the rebrand and slip in standards.
I doubt the hotel will ever post this review on their website. Why would they? It tarnishes their image. This is just representative of how they now deal with people.
In future I will stay elsewhere. Nothing special...
Read moreVisited after rugby match in the Aviva. Looking for something to eat. Was informed that the kitchen was closed and there was a limited menu. Had the worst meal I have ever been served in any hotel. Having received the menu and paid 23 euros in advance, I went to the food service area. It was obviously the breakfast service area with the labels for breakfast items still on the service dishes. The food available looked like it had been cooked after breakfast. Cold soggy burgers wedges chips chicken and curry. How any hotel management or chief executive could have thought that this was an acceptable style of food to serve to their guests. I was as embarrassed as a Dubliner to see numerous residents trying to eat something as there was nothing else available. There were a lot of hotel employees wandering around with no one seemingly taking charge or rectifying the situation One of the items was burger buns being burnt by a breakfast bed toaster. A man in a suit said he would slow it down and did bring me a burger bun some 20 minutes later after I had sat down. Do not consider this for a meal until this is rectified and full kitchen service...

Very unaccommodating for allergies / food intolerances - I asked what could be adapted from the menu and was told to just order the vegan dish as they’re so busy with the concert attendees
I asked if they could speak to the chef to see what could be adapted from the menu as I was told this was possible before booking the hotel - they came back with a couple of basic options
Ordered food and drinks (espresso martini) - waited 30 minutes for drinks to be served only for it to be served with chocolate on top after being listed with no allergens on the menu
This is totally unacceptable, no matter how busy a restaurant is, basic care over food issues / allergens should be a priority - and when items on menu are listed without allergens mentioned - that is exactly how they should be served.
Photo attached of the espresso martini - “sorry I shook it too much” was the explanation when it came...
