I used to dine at Katie Daly’s regularly in the past, and whenever we wanted a consistently good, flavorful meal, we always chose Katie Daly’s—until the recent change in management.

This was our first visit since the chef change, and unfortunately, it was disappointing. We sampled various dishes, and none met expectations. The chorizo and prawn pasta was overwhelmed by an excessive amount of chorizo and cream, masking the other flavors. The half chicken dinner was bland and uninspiring. The fried Brie was simply breaded and deep-fried Brie—probably the only decent dish on the table.

However, the most disappointing was the Asian salad. The vegetables appeared bitter and wilted, as if they had been in the fridge for several days. It lacked the typical zingy, salty, or Asian flavors, and the rice noodles were scarce—perhaps only a handful of sparse noodles. This dish was priced at €11 and was frankly unacceptable.

The positive aspect of the evening was the staff—they were courteous and kind. However, the quality of the food reflects poorly on the current kitchen team.

As people know its rare I give a 5 star to anyone . Well here it is my first 5 star of 2022 . The Amazing Katie Dalys pub and restaurant in Gorey . Well I can't even cope with the place. We had 2 starters 3 mains YES 3 and 2 desserts. Well the starters I had the prawn in garlic butter and I almost drooled with the smell and the taste jeeeeuss. Partner had the wings and devoured them . I've never had pasta in a restaurant so we ordered it with 2 sirloins which may as well have been fillets cooked to perfection with mash and proper chunky soft veg. Steak melted away and their rustic chips savage isn't a good enough word. And the desserts where almost too hard to finish but tasted so good I had to . The staff can not be rated any higher if I cud give em 100 I would friendly kind quick to clear chatty and want to make u happy the cocktails almost sent me to the grave they where amazing freshly made Mojiito cudnt have been better and the Daqueri sent the missus to the bed early lol it can not be faulted for location service taste price or quality I challenge anyone to go there and not have an amazing time and be rolled outta the place order the Pasta but also word of caution the portions are...

I’ve been to Katie Daly’s several times over the years, but sadly, it’s gone seriously downhill — possibly due to new management. My recent visit was nothing short of frustrating.

The service was painfully slow and completely inattentive. We were left waiting far too long to be acknowledged, and when someone finally came over, the staff were rude, abrupt, and clearly uninterested in offering even basic hospitality. It felt like we were an inconvenience rather than paying customers.

The food was another disappointment. My meal arrived undercooked, and when I politely asked for it to be cooked a bit more, the chef sent it back out exactly the same — along with a message blaming the “spices” for the issue. That explanation made no sense and felt like an excuse rather than any real attempt to address the problem.

To top it off, the food is overpriced for what you get — especially when the quality and service are this poor. Katie Daly’s used to be a reliable option in Gorey, but I won’t be returning unless there are major changes. A very disappointing experience from...
