Browne's The Venue — Restaurant in The Municipal District of Tullamore

We went for dinner last night in Brownes, we didn't have reservations but they did accommodate us very quickly. Beautiful inside, they did a wonderful job redecorating, drink and food orders were taken quickly and both arrived promptly but from then on we found the service really bad. We waited nearly 20 mins before i called someone to have our plates removed and to see the dessert menu. Once given the menu, nobody came near our table again to take our order so after 15 mins, we walked to the bar to request our bill. Nobody came near our table all night after we arrived to see if we even needed drinks, this was pretty bad considering it isn't a cheap place to eat. We won't be rushing back to Brownes anytime soon, portion sizes are small for the money, chips aren't an expensive ingredients but even they were rationed, service is chaotic and we just felt invisible after the first 5 mins when we arrived. Was traveling from Kildare to Galway and went 8 minutes out of our way to go here for lunch, and I am delighted to say it was well worth it. The food is definitely one of the best we have got in a while, when we arrived with no booking and the place was quite full, we were seated and food orders were taken quickly and food came out quickly, and it was cooked fresh, not like some places I have been where it comes from the microwave. The staff also couldn’t be helpful enough, asking us if we have enough of everything halfway into our meal. And well done chef👏 Also a good atmosphere in the place. It would be no harm for some of our hotel owners in the country to take a trip here for lunch to see what the standards should be. I’m not speaking about all hotels, but definitely a good few with them.

During the weekdays, my working hours are extensive, which limits the time I can spend with my daughter. Consequently, weekends are our special opportunity for outings. On arrival, we were greeted warmly by a lady at the entrance. However, this initial hospitality was not indicative of the overall customer service experience. After placing our order and receiving our drinks, the staff largely neglected us. I had to actively seek the attention of a waiter to place further orders, and subsequently, we were left unattended for over 30 minutes, with empty glasses remaining on the table. Eventually, I found it necessary to approach the staff to settle the bill, as no one came to inquire if we required anything further.
