I always like to start with the positives. The location is good in Clonakilty town on the square, so it has nice tables outside. Usually there is a busker playing really good guitar. So it’s a nice atmosphere when he is there. We were there last Bank holiday Monday ! It was busy . That’s good to see .
It took a While to have an order Taken , it was busy but honestly certainly didn’t get the impression that the staff were flying about, to counter this busy period .
Waitress was lovey . I ordered a cappuccino not too hot and 3/4 full for my friend who is Non verbal . I ordered a coke and the Ham Cheese Tomato and onion toastie Well done .
It was 45 mins for the coffee to come and when it Did it was boiling hot and filled to the top . I sent it back and asked for a coffee with the correct temp and 3/4 full. My sandwich arrive after 50 mins . What I got was good but it wasn’t what I ordered . A ham and cheese sandwich came . No tomato no onion . The sandwich isn’t cheap so I’d expect to Get what I am paying for. The coffee wasn’t good to be fair. 3 ladies at the table next to me also didn’t like with 2 not finishing them . We had a little chat as you do . The spot is nice , the staff nice but not well trained . I saw 2 other things being sent back while there. I still tipped, as I said the staff were nice, the issues here are with staff training and standard of coffee and food, which is an owner/manager issue .
The place is always busy,as we are a visitor town and it has a good location . Personally I won’t go back . I get the feeling from the owners that ,They won’t care either as they have lots of...
Read moreWhen the weather is nice there's nothing like sitting out at Aris. The sun hits the terrace at around 11am. The coffee is good and you can ask for mugs, cups and weird additions if you so fancy.
The service depending on who working can be great to scatty but never unfriendly.
There's a breakfast, lunch and evening menu with tapa elements, pizza, salad and sandwich options.
I went for hangover coffee after a night of music and craic and had a go of the breakfast menu.
The options vary from toast with jam and butter (under €3,-) to breakfast type sandwiches (going up to around €7,-).
I chose a sausage and bacon Bla (a Bla is a soft white bread bun originating in Waterford) the sausages (nothing special) but with a nice brown skin (perfect hangover sausage, cannot deal with pale looking sausages when suffering) and a fine piece of bacon on the Bla. It served with a relish to spice it up a little (man do I love relish!). And that for the very reasonable sum of €4,50.
One happy camper, set up the aul stomach for another day good times in West Cork.
I'm sure I'll see you there when the sun is out...
Read morePlace is quite small and intimate. It's very nice outside and inside is small and the whole menu is on the back wall (not priced) I had the soup one day which was quite pleasant. Very hot which was good on a cold wet day. The next visit I had the O mills spiced beef, brie, onion marmalade, lettuce, mayo. It comes untoasted as standard. I asked for it toasted which they obliged no bother. It's actually rather nice. Comes with potato salad on the side mine had a little too much mayo for my liking and could have done with a slap of cranberry but was genuinely quite nice. And the prices are reasonable as Well. Hot choc and bowl of hot soup and...
