We decided to visit Taste of Bengal on our last night after having a fantastic long weekend watching the TT. Over the course of the 3 days we visited many restaurants and takeaways. Seated at a table (3 of us) then placed our order. Soft drinks were brought. Then approximately 50 minutes later the correct food came out, 15 minutes earlier the wrong food order came to our table. Chicken Bhuna, lamb tikka madras, chicken madras, 2 egg rice & 1 aloo gobi. The food was average to say the least, also luke warm. Some staff seemed very stressed & very disorganised even though the restaurant wasnāt particularly busy. Asked for the bill. Just shy of Ā£59. I did check it too as that seemed over the odds for the portion sizes. Left a tip as we always do then left. Once we arrived home the following day my son realised heād left his coat on the seat. 5pm (opening time) I phoned and was spoken to in a rude manner and told that there was no coat but that someone had been to collect a coat so I was a little confused. The male member of staff ended the call very quickly too Later my friend (lives in Douglas) actually went to the restaurant and again enquired about the coat. She was also spoken to in a rude manner and told there was no coat. She asked to see the CCTV, this would have shown my son arrive with it but not leaving with it. She was told there was no CCTV. Then when the police was mentioned the coat miraculously appeared. My friend was then asked to leave the premises. Make of it what you will. Honest mistake or an attempt at the thief of lost property? The whole experience has left a bad taste in my mouth and will never visit Taste of Bengal again. Disappointed to be treated this way as a regular visitor to the Isle of Man. Not normally one to post a negative review but I feel that people need to be warned about my experience...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGot a take out on 27/072022, We are not happy with the service and Food. I will report to Douglas council for their food hygiene to check. I ordered 2 biriyani and one mix grilled, Firstly on the menu say 10% discount for takeout order over Ā£20 for collection but I spent over Ā£34 for rotten food and missing food but I didnāt receive any discount, They made my biriyani with rotten rice, Very bad musty odour smell was coming from biriyani after opening the container.itās seem they used 5-7 days old cooked rice to made biriyani, On the menu said, mix grill comes with plain NAN bread,I paid 12.99 for a mix grill but they Didnāt give me my Nan bread, They charged Ā£12.99 for few piece of tikka, one shish kebab and one tiny chicken leg,no Nan or not even any salad. Itās seem to me they robbing people with Rotten food and missing food. We traveled 6 hours to get Douglas and we was very hungry so we wanted a decent meal, But we were very disappointed for their...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSince moving to the island a year ago, we struggled to find decent quality food (especially Indian food)... and for a reasonable price. After trying multiple places in Douglas, Ramsey and Peel, we found the Taste of Bengal, and it is now our go to!
Very reasonable prices (competitive on the island) and good quality food. Staff are welcoming and food is always fast and tasty. We have never had an issue eating in and when we have gotten a takeaway, only once has there been an issue - one missing item which was delivered to us promptly when we called up.
Wouldn't go anywhere else - consistently brilliant.
My only criticism is that whilst the restaurant allows you to bring your own alcohol, soft drinks have to be bought in-house, and they are from a bottle, which can mean they aren't very fizzy. If that was addressed, I think we'd give it a 5/5...
