Villa Fusion — Restaurant in Douglas

Quite disappointed with my experience on 23 September, having seeing reviews on Google previously. Stood waiting (first in queue) to be seated for over ten minutes while members of staff walked past. When finally seated by a gentleman in a white shirt (manager? Owner?) and seated, he chucked the menus at us, with no drinks menu, and stormed away. Had an initial drinks service, which was fine, the actual waiters were nice. White shirt came over to take food order following a wait where our server said the kitchen had put a hold on taking new orders. This was about 30 minutes since we were seated. He looked irritated, stressed, and seemed to be clicking at staff members while serving us, and was very abrupt. I’m surprised he got our order right with the amount of attention he paid us. Once he stormed off again, the whole table felt stressed. Drinks came, waiters lovely again. We then waited awhile. We continued to wait, our drinks ran out. We waited some more. We noted that tables near us didn’t have any drinks and that they had to ask for service, the stressed white shirt man once again clicked at the servers. We asked for drinks, and they came a moderate amount of time after. Food came after a longer wait (about a hour since seating). The food was nice, albeit rather tepid, we assumed it was waiting a while to be served. Uncertain if aspects of the chicken were uncooked. None of the mains that had fries had fries, when we mentioned this the server went to get them (read: cook them as the kitchen forgot). This took 15 minutes such as mains were nearly done. The server was surprised no one had brought them before this. We then ran out of drinks again, waited for 20 minutes and decided to leave.

Most people looked rather unhappy in the restaurant, with tables seemingly waiting ages for food and drinks.

I wouldn’t blame the waitresses as you could see there were only seemingly two of them for the restaurant. Maybe one or two were sick? Hopefully this wasn’t a manager cut back or something.

However expected more for 120 quid for...

Sorry, this was terrible. My son booked thinking it was still Villa Parilla.

I ordered tempura prawns that were served in breadcrumbs. Tempura is a very light batter - they tasted ok, but were greasy / but it was not what I wanted and would not have ordered them had I known what they were.

The next dish was dreadful ‘Happosai’ - no reference to it containing rice or the fact it appeared be cabbage parcels filled with tasteless rice and mushrooms. No baby corn present. Tasteless - zero flavour. Served with a side salad which didn’t go with the flavourless bags of rice. Thankfully, I’d ordered egg fried rice - which was ok; not great - just ok.

My son ordered a burger served with slaw that he felt was ‘on the turn’ and not fresh. He ate half of it. My daughter had a greasy chicken stirfry which she barely ate any of. Out of 9 diners, only the Salmon was ok - most of the plates were half eaten when they took them away.

£234 down and a bad taste in my mouth I left seeking something else where to remove the bad taste!

Very disappointing. We came for a family meal and I didn’t want to make a fuss in front of them about how bad the food was to the server - also didn’t want to embarrass my son who booked this place in good faith thinking it was still...

Went in June and had a great meal. Went again in November. Obviously this time it was colder. Venue has no toilet inside. Have to go out into a cold arcade to go to public lavatories. Venue has no heating. At this price point I want someone to pour my wine - not DIY. Had a desert. £8 for three small scoops of cheap ice cream. Main course was good but there's really nothing to justify the high price. Two other diners weren't happy due to too much chilli on the vegetables. Staff were pleasant but for the money I wanted more. Chairs offer no back support so my back felt every draft and was unsupported. Chairs were slippy.
