My family went today for a Sunday roast treat. The food was so appalling! Minus the roast potatoes and the Yorkshire pudding it looked and tasted like a cheap microwave meal!! That was all drowned in salty gravy. The only reason the Yorkshire pudding and ?roast potatoes were different was because the Yorkshire pudding was burnt!! And the roast potatoes where full size potatoes that were undercooked!

Partner and child ate what they could due to being so hungry (they would normally clear a plate, but didnt) and I had to request chips instead.

Staff didn't seem bothered when I said about food and without saying anything took my plate and then brought a measly small portion of chips to the table, without saying a word.

Don't get me wrong I know you don't go the the marine and expect 5*, but for £16 each we expected decent edible food

Really poor food and service that was raised and didn't get...

Our party of eight dined at this establishment, where orders are placed at the bar. The service approach was inefficient, as each individual order was taken first, and only after all four couples had ordered were the drinks prepared. As a result, by the time we returned to our table, our meals had already been served, and we were still waiting for our beverages.

The food itself was disappointing thinly sliced meat warmed in gravy, accompanied by an overly soft, unappealing plate of sides. At £18 per meal, the quality did not justify the price. If this style of dining appeals to you, this venue may be suitable. However, for a more enjoyable experience, I would recommend trying the Boat Restaurant up the road. Dont make...

I’ve been in the Marine twice in the last couple of weeks, at lunchtime. Both times, it wasn’t busy, but the bar staff was more interested in carrying on gossip sessions with her friends at the other end of the bar. Looked across at me, waiting to be served, and went back to her chat. I left without being served. I had a pint at the White House instead, now there’s a proper pub. I won’t bother trying the Marine a third time. Edit; well much against my better judgement I did go back a third time. The lamb shank was dried to the consistency of shoe leather, the vegetables were cooked almost to a mush and the beer was vinegary, on the turn. Why do I do these things to myself?? Never,...

A fantastic steak and kidney pie served with real homemade chips! Very reasonably priced and excellent service! Update- Just had lunch, unfortunately I have no idea what the rest of the menu is like. I never make it beyond the steak and kidney pie! Still seriously good. Update - I had the fish and chips today, I know, NOT the steak and kidney pie but it was in memory of my Gran. Fantastic! Still the great homemade chips and the fish was divine, buttery with a crispy batter.

Went here for a pub lunch and it wasn't great. Food was mediocre and the staff were not interested in serving. Felt like we had to interrupt their gossip sessions to get them to help us. It also smelled of old smoke and alcohol stained carpets. Would not recommend unless it is dark, you aren't hungry, and maybe have had a pint or two so the smell doesn't bother you. I would never go here again ☹️.
