קפה מנדרין — Restaurant in Haifa

I went there on Friday, we went for breakfast, they sat us at the corner, and forgot about us for quite some time, so I called them, the waitress (sadly I didnt get her name) was rude, no skills whatsoever in the service business, she took our order with no smile, felt like she was forced to work and I never seen such a disgrace service... She answered our questions in a salty way, with no respect whatsoever, even though we are the customers and older than her. I've went to many places, but this place, just wow, I mean wow, never seen something like this in my life! And I worked for 4 years in service in the country and abroad in Germany... The food arrived, the bread wasn't eatable, it was cold and hard as a rock, we called the waitress, she gave us a look, and said but you touched it... I told her yes we tried to eat but you can't eat it, and she was like, um but you touched it, I cant replace it, after arguing few times, she went to her boss and told her to send us bread, I mean it's only bread, and let alone they brought it uneatable... There were other items missing from the meal such as butter, we requested butter from her and she didn't want to bring at first until she saw we didn't receive any of it, and guess what, sadlt after we eat it we noticed that the expiration date was finished 3 months ago 30/4/20, we told them and they did nothing about it. We wrote a letter to the responsible there, even after he read it he has done nothing about it!! (We were still there when he read it and also we wrote phone number). We came on a date to enjoy ourselves, have breakfast and enjoy our time, this was hell of an experience, NEVER COMING BACK! Worst service ever, the food wasn't good, and not enough for two. This is the first time i ever complain...

It's more of a 4+, because both vegan and meat chops were not good enough. My vegan chops were very unspicy, absolutely tasteless, and their guacamole sauce was as flat, so I think they'll be better with plain ketchup. My boyfriend's kebab was a bit too raw and he found a small bit of plastic there. The water glasses were unwashed as well. BUT the side dishes were excellent, and the juice tasty, and the beer cold, and the water was free (another thing to love in Israel) and the waitress really nice (the serving time is totally fine despite the reviews). Recommendations: try the mashed eggplant, tahina and bread, fresh juices, salads...

Have been there a couple of times within 5 years. The food has consistently been good, very tasty and well prepared and served. Also, their menu has a lot of different options to choose from. Loved it! Last time our waitress (I think her name is Valeria, if I remember correctly) was very attentive, quick to help (we requested to turn down the music a little bit to be able to hear each other better), over all a very memorable experience. Maybe a little bit too pricey, but people have said that Israel is generally more expensive than other places. I hope to be able to...
