One of the best culinary finds of the year for us. While it’s obviously a reputed restaurant already, I highly recommend it if you haven’t it, or to try it again if you have.
The pasta dish (khorasan pasta) is simple yet perfect, profoundly emotional almost. It reminded me of the dish of my childhood, albeit elevated.
The sashimi with avo & lime was a 10/10. Fresh, tasty, zesty, almost a ceviche but not quite.
The barbacoa tacos are special too — texture is amazing, tender lamb and crunchy pickled kohlrabi. Tasted “grassy” and smoky in the best way.
The toffee date desert was otherworldly— top desert of 2024 for us. Just divine.
Great selection of skin contacts (orange wine). By the glass, we had a funky one and a more traditional one and were pleased with both.
The digestif (herbal, from the Julius distillery) was a great (non overpowering) finish.
And most of all, the service was personal, impeccable, and kind. Yoav was lovely, Erica was sweet. The people at DOK are passionate about the restaurant’s mission of keeping ingredients and food local and it made every bite...
Read moreWhat can I say, this place is not as it used to be, the menu is boring and overpriced, 350 NIS for 4 glasses of wine and 3 really small dishes that can be considered only as a starter could be a fair price for exquisite culinary experience, but here it’s not the case. 50 NIS for 3 stalks of asparagus in some sauce, common really? Beef tartar was really just so plain and simple that you forget about it already while you eat it, cheese platter of 4 really small slices of cheese that sat there and melted waiting for someone to finally order it, served with excessive amount of jams and some toasted bread leftovers is just an embarrassment. And the fact that they don’t even ask you how was the experience afterwards also says quite a lot, apparently the owners understand that the place have nothing to offer on a culinary experience side, but they do know how to bill you as a top notch restaurant. Bottom line, pass, there are way better places in Tel Aviv in this price category that do have something to offer...
Read moreWe loved the local vibes and food. Our dish ranking of what we had: The sashimi with its brilliant lemony sauce. That was the best sauce of the night. The raw greens salad and its splash of labane were just delicious. The corn ice cream had these awesome spicy candied pieces. Never thought I'd enjoy a corn ice cream. The charred kohlrabi is interesting and super unique. The bread came with two simple spreads. One eggplant based and the other tomatoe based. The pasta/spaghetti was thick and filling but I prefer softer pasta that's cheesier. The pigeon was salty, tasted like chicken, and the little sauce and veggies next to it weren't too interesting.
The anticola drink was interesting to sip with the strong minty scent, but the drink itself was not too fun...
