Java — Restaurant in Tel-Aviv

The outside seating was lovely here! We stayed from early evening until midnight and we had a great time with friends. The overall atmosphere in this restaurant was really relaxing. The drinks were cheaper than other places, which was nice, but the food was a little disappointing. The portion sizes were quit small and very limited in amount/variety of ingredients. Especially the salad was very simple, little and tasteless. The greens had a hard bite and the 'special' ingredients that are usually tastemakers (fruit, nuts, etc.) were hard to find. It was not worth the price. We had french toast and cheesecake as dessert. The french toast was a little dry and didn't have much taste, but the cheesecake was really good! Definitely recommended! Don’t go for breakfast if you’re gluten intolerant! However, lunch works well.

We checked the menu and were happily surprised that they offer gluten free brunches. We later realized that this is just a regular brunch but without the big bread basket that is usually included. I left the place still hungry and had to go to a grocery store to buy some more food.

It would be more fair to specify in the menu that the “gluten free option” is just without the bread, or to offer the dishes at a lower price if you don’t take the bread.

Other than that, the place has a nice vibe, the waiters were very friendly and service was fast! My partner was happy with his brunch.

I just had a shockingly bad experience at this place in regard to the service.

The manager, who was also our server - a petite brunette woman - was incredibly rude and aggressive.

There was a misunderstanding with something related to the bill and we very gently brought it to her attention.

She fought us, escalated the situation drastically, made rude comments under her breath, and then had the audacity to ask for a tip - we chose not to leave service, as the service was horrible.

She then told us to never come back to the restaurant, because we were “rude” for not leaving a tip.
